The MS2840A Signal Analyzer (“the MS2840A” hereafter) is a spectrum analyzer to which options such as real-time signal analysis and vector modulation analysis can be added.
The MS2840A enables high-speed and high-accuracy signal processing of
wide-ranging analyses at full-span, a characteristic of conventional
sweep-type spectrum analyzers, using a digital IF block. In addition, the
FFT process (high-speed Fourier conversion) realizes high-speed
spectrum analysis and simultaneous analysis on frequency and time axes
not possible with conventional sweep-type spectrum analyzers. Also,
added option enables recording of the RF input signal as digital data
(digitize function). It can be used in a variety of applications from
research and development to manufacturing thanks to its characteristics.

Signal Analyzer MS2840A-044/046 has been developed for R&D and manufacturing of wireless equipment and devices. It has standard spectrum analyzer functions and covers a measurement frequency range from 9 kHz to 26.5 GHz/44.5 GHz. The close-in SSB phase noise performance is best-of-class for current middle range models* and the figures are equal to the high-grade models (–123 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz measurement frequency and 10 kHz offset frequency). Additionally, the standard built-in signal analyzer function supports instantaneous monitoring of spectrums, as well as various measurements, including Frequency vs. Time, Phase vs. Time, spectrogram displays, etc. Adding vector modulation analysis software and analog measurement software options support evaluation of various digital and analog wireless modulation signals and also adds functions for measuring amplifier noise figure (NF) values. Further, connecting the separately sold High Performance Waveguide Mixer enables spectrum measurements between 50 and 90 GHz for wideband wireless equipment, radar, etc.

Signal Analyzer MS2840A-040/041 has been developed for R&D and manufacturing of wireless equipment and devices. It has standard spectrum analyzer functions and covers a measurement frequency range from 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz/6 GHz. The close-in SSB phase noise performance is best-of-class for current middle range models and the figures are equal to the high-grade models (–123 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz measurement frequency and 10 kHz offset frequency). Additionally, dedicated options for MS2840A-040/041 greatly enhance their performance to exceed that of other makers’ high-grade models (–133 dBc/Hz at measurement frequency of 500 MHz and offset frequency of 10 kHz). The standard built-in signal analyzer function supports instantaneous monitoring of spectrums, as well as various measurements, including Frequency vs. Time, Phase vs. Time, spectrogram displays, etc. Adding vector modulation analysis software, analog measurement software, vector/analog signal generator options support evaluation of various digital and analog wireless equipment/devices and also adds functions for measuring amplifier noise figure (NF) values.

Automatic measurement can be performed by using this instrument in connection with an external controller (PC). This instrument is standard equipped with GPIB, Ethernet, and USB interfaces. You can also select a remote control command from the SCPI mode, which is a command format defined by the SCPI Consortium, and Native mode, which is our unique format.
See the MS2690A/MS2691A/MS2692A and MS2830A/MS2840A/MS2850A Signal Analyzer Operation Manual (Mainframe Remote Control) for how to switch the language mode.
You can use the Native mode by converting SCPI commands into Native ones. See the MS2690A/MS2691A/MS2692A and MS2830A/MS2840A/MS2850A Signal Analyzer Operation Manual (Mainframe Remote Control) for details.
