Anritsu FAQs

I cannot seem to open my traces on the CMA 5000/4500. The trace files names all have an ".osds" extension.
answer
The .OSDS extension is used to indicate an OTDR Setup Configuration File. This type of file is used to save all of the OTDR set-up parameters (such as range, resolution, average times, pulswidth, wavelength, etc) but not the actual OTDR trace data. This type of file is used to save and recall the way your OTDR is set-up to make measurements, and is useful for quickly recalling specific test cases (perhaps in accordance with standardized testing procedures. It insures that the parameters are set-up the same way each time the setup file is loaded. While you are free to use any extension for them, OTDR Trace data files will typically use a .TRC extension (or .SOR for the Bellcore/Telcordia file format), or may be a numeric value created by auto-filename generation.
