Burst measurement capability is a standard feature in the MP1763B/MP1764A. Our 12.5 Gb/s BERT, is excellent for Burst measurements, because it has very fast Sync time. The MP1764A syncs quickly on both standard PRBS and User Defined patterns. This ability to Sync quickly on bursted data is one of our key advantages over our competitors 12 Gb/s BERT. Some competitors have trouble syncing on bursted PRBS patterns and cannot Sync on bursted User Defined patterns. Some typical Sync Time values you can expect from the 12.5 Gig BERT are: PRBS Sync time = 4096/f + 0.4 us (where f is bit rate) Quick Sync time = 4 x N/f (where N is pattern length and f is bit rate) Note: Quick Sync is used with User defined patterns only. For example: For f = 2.5 Gb/s, PRBS pattern? PRBS Sync time= 2.04 us For f = 2.5 Gb/s, User-Defined Pattern (1024 bits)-->Quick Sync time=1.64 us
