Optical Devices Test Solutions
Optical devices to handle increasing network traffic
As a result of the widespread use of AI services, massive increases in the amount of data being transmitted have led to a demand for ever-faster optical transceivers for server-to-server communications in data centers and Beyond 5G/6G networks. At the same time, to meet the demand for low latency and low power consumption, innovative technologies are being developed, such as photonics-electronics convergence technology, which introduces optical communications technology within semiconductor chips. Photonics-electronics convergence technology is an important technology for realizing Japan's IOWN®*1 concept and next-generation green data centers, while the technology is also being developed outside Japan, such as in the form of PIPES*2 and LUMOS*3.
*1: Innovative Optical and Wireless Network, IOWN® is a trademark or registered trademark of NIPPON TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE CORPORATION.
*2: Photonics in the Package for Extreme Scalability
*3: Lasers for Universal Microscale Optical Systems
