Luton United Kingdom, for immediate release - Anritsu Corporation has started volume shipments from November 12 of the company’s newly developed 56-Gbaud High-Output Differential Linear Amp AH54192A targeted at evaluation of 56-Gbaud PAM4 signals used by 100/200/400 GbE second-generation optical transceivers. The new linear amplifier has industry-beating low power consumption in a compact form factor. 

The AH54192A linear amplifier supports output of 56-Gbaud PAM4 signals with a high output differential of 4 Vpp. It amplifies 56-Gbaud PAM4 signals from various signal sources, such as DSPs, and can directly modulate EML and TOSA requiring high amplitudes.

By leveraging Anritsu’s experience in fabricating semiconductors for high-speed electronic and optical devices, low-noise signals are amplified while successfully suppressing degraded TDECQ*3 values following conversion to an optical signal. In addition, as well as preventing power-supply operator mistakes by using a jointly developed dedicated power supply, signals are amplified with high reproducibility using variable amplification with a digital-meter function.

Using the Anritsu AH54192A meets market demands for support for 56-Gbaud PAM4 signal differential I/O, high-quality waveforms, and prevention of damage to devices under test through use of a dedicated power supply, helping increase network speeds even further.

Development Background
Server and network equipment communications speeds are being increased to cope with the explosion in data traffic. As part of these speed increases, the next-generation 100/200/400 GbE Ethernet standards using the QSFP-DD*4 and OSFP*4 form factor have decided to use the 2-bit (4 values) PAM4 signaling method to reach speeds up to 56 Gbaud for transferring more data per unit time. Consequently, a linear driver is required for more faithful amplification of PAM4 signals.

Anritsu has developed the AH54192A with dedicated power supply to meet these industry requirements. 56-Gbaud PAM4 high-output signals can be generated easily using the AH54192 in combination with various signal sources.

The 56-Gbaud High-Output Differential Linear Amp AH54192A is a high-output differential linear amplifier for evaluating 56-Gbaud PAM4 signals. Output waveforms are adjusted easily and the provided accessory power supply reduces the risk of damage to devices caused by operator mistakes.

In addition, the maximum power consumption has been cut to 0.9 W when transferring high-speed, high-output (4 Vpp, differential) 56-Gbaud data.
