Anritsu Company Introduces Options for BERTWave MP2110A for Comprehensive High-speed Optical Module and Device Verification
Clock Recovery, PAM4 Analysis, and Jitter Analysis Options Create Cost-effective Solution that Shortens Test Times, Increases Yields, and Lowers Cost-of-Test
Luton, United Kingdom – January 17, 2018 – Anritsu Company introduces clock recovery, PAM4 analysis, and jitter analysis options for its BERTWave MP2110A that help shorten inspection times, increase production-line yields, and lower measurement equipment costs in 200G/400G high-speed optical module and device manufacturing environments. With the options installed, the BERTWave MP2110A can be used to evaluate PHY Layer performance of CFP2/4/8, QSFP28, SFP28, OSFP, and QSFP-DD optical modules, active optical cables (AOCs), and optical devices.
The new options augment the existing bit error rate (BER) measurement and EYE pattern analysis of the BERTWave MP2110A instrument to create an all-in-one solution. The PAM4 Analysis software option supports measurements required for evaluating 56G PAM4 optical signals, such as TDECQ. It eliminates the complex settings previously associated with conducting these measurements and allows for easy capture of measurement results. With the option installed, the BERTWave MP2110A has low noise of typically 3.4 µW and high sensitivity to support high-reproducibility measurements, even with small EYE margin PAM4 signals. The high-speed sampling of the BERTWave MP2110A shortens time for collecting data required for TDECQ analysis.
Engineers can use the Clock Recovery option to effectively monitor waveforms, such as those for transmission equipment without a clock source. Because the BERTWave MP2110A has a built-in BERT and sampling oscilloscope, it creates an easy and economical measurement system configuration that doesn’t require complex cabling. Further reducing equipment costs is that it supports recovery of both NRZ and PAM4 clocks. Loss is reduced due to internal dividers that minimize impact on sensitivity, which is especially useful for high-sensitivity monitoring of PAM signals.
To support jitter decomposition, Anritsu has developed the Jitter Analysis software to measure TJ, DJ, and RJ. The BERTWave MP2110A, with the software loaded, supports fast and easy J2 and J9 measurements. An EYE Mode simplifies manufacturing inspection while an Advanced Jitter Mode allows for detailed DJ analysis. Simultaneous jitter analysis and EYE mask tests are also supported to shorten measurement time.
The BERTWave MP2110A is an all-in-one measuring instrument with a built-in 4-channel BERT and 2-channel sampling oscilloscope to support evaluations such as BER measurements, Eye mask tests and Eye pattern analyses of optical modules. The integrated BERT and sampling oscilloscope are required instruments for evaluating optical modules used by optical communications systems. Previously, evaluation of typical optical modules required a standalone BERT and sampling oscilloscope, but the all-in-one BERTWave MP2110A eliminates the need for separate instruments, reducing both instrument capital costs and manufacturing costs.
