How do I get my MS2721B to use a manual ethernet address after I enter one?

After you enter the ethernet address you want to use (i.e. 10.0.0.2) you must restart the unit on a live ethernet connection. You can use the crossover cable to connect to your computer's ethernet port as a live port, but only if you are assigning an address. If you use the DHCP (dynamic host control protocol), you must hook to a live ethernet connection that allows for DHCP requests.

Can I sweep an antenna with a TMAS on the line?

No. The majority of TMAS for cellular antennas will block the RF signal from the Site Master so the sweeping signal will only go as far as the TMAS and not reach the antenna.

Can I sweep antennas close to another RF source?

Yes but you need to be very careful that the RF from another Source is not going to exceed the 20 dBm max on the RF port.  Power in excess of 20 dBm can result in damage to the unit.

Can a .csv file that was converted from a .vna file of a VNA master be converted back to .vna using Master Software Tools?

No. If someone sends you a .csv file MST cannot be used to convert it back to a .vna file to be opened in MST.

Can I use the C/I (carrier to interference ratio) to make SINAD measurements on a narrow-band FM signal?

No, the C/I measurement is intended for use when measuring Wi-Fi (802.11b,g and a) signals. The measurement makes certain assumptions about the nature of the Wi-Fi signal being measured and how it is affected by various types of interferers.

What is a one port cable loss test?

Traditionally, measuring the insertion loss of an installed coaxial cable is a one-port reflection measurement since it is virtually impossible to connect both ends of the cable to test equipment. The measurement is made by placing a short on one end of the cable and measuring the return loss at the other end. The desired value, cable loss, is return loss divided by two, since the signal travels through the cable in both directions.

How do I reduce the side lobes in a DTF on a Site Master?

Windowing will  reduce the lobes depending upon their severity.  It is similar to an averaging or smoothing technique.  There are four windowing options available: Rectangular windowing – Normal mode of operation. Nominal side lobe – Some smoothing Low Side Lobe – More smoothing Minimum side lobe – Maximum smoothing

Why can I not connect to my MT8222A using the USB to mini USB cable?

Please ensure that the instrument's firmware is at the latest revision. On the PC side, sometimes when installing the 2 drivers that are required for the USB connectivity, they do not get installed properly and reinstalling will not work. In this case, go to: Control Panel > System > Device Manager (this is under hardware on XP operating systems).  Open the other devices If you see 2 devices highlighted in yellow, these are the 2 drivers that did not install properly. Highlight each, right click and uninstall both. Unplug the USB connection from your PC. Scroll down and click on Anritsu USB Driver and run. Click on new hardware found pop-up and follow on screen instructions, installing 2 drivers. This should correct the original corrupted driver install. For more information review the documentation below or visit Master Software Tools.

Are Anritsu PC applications for downloading files from the Site Master supported on 64 bit Windows OS's?

Currently Anritsu does not but is working diligently to provide a solution.

Will an MS2721B with options 078 and 009 DVB-T functions work on COFDM DVB-T 6 MHz signal transmission in USA?

Option 78 provides SFN measurements on a DVB-T/H SFN network to measure multi-path related issues. For modulation analysis and RF measurements, Option 64 is required, which does support 6 MHz DVB-T bandwidth. We've only heard of some trial DVB networks in the US which are no longer operational. However, please note that ATSC is the digital broadcast standard in the US.

On W-CDMA Over The Air (OTA) Measurements , where can I find the chip time?

According to the WCDMA standard the chip rate is fixed at 3.84 Mcps, thus chip time can derived to be 0.26 micro seconds.

On WCDMA/HSPDA Over The Air (OTA) Measurements, what is the formula that relates Ec and CPICH?

Ec is defined as the chip energy for PCPICH and is determined by multiplying CPICH by the chip time. Ec = CPICH + 10*log10(Chip Time) or Ec = CPICH - 65.84dB

Do you have any products that can do spectrum analysis, vector network analysis and WCDMA demodulation?

Yes, the product is called the BTS Master and more information about it can be found on our website.

Do we support Mobile WiMAX on Handheld products?

Yes. Mobile WiMax is now available as Options on our MT8222A BTS Master as well as the MS2721B, MS2723B, and MS2724B Spectrum Masters.

Can I enter the sweep time manually in Spectrum Analyzer mode?

Yes you can. You can go into the sweep menu (MT8222A, MS272XB) or "MEAS/DISP" menu (MS2711D, S332D, S312D, MT8212B) and select "Min Sweep Time" and enter the desired sweep time. If you enter a time that is faster than what the instrument is capable of then the instrument will change the sweep speed and default to whatever the instrument can do. For every measurement point, the instrument spends a certain time and if it is too fast, then it is measured again. This is why the actual sweep time is usually a little bit longer than the requested time. In zero span mode, the sweep times are exact.

When I use my MT8222A and I make a return loss measurement can I convert my graph into actual data that I can look at?

Yes, using Master Software Tools the graphs can be converted to output actual raw data. Use CSV export option to do this.

Do we still need to buy Option 19 to use the MA24106A with the instrument?

Yes - you need Option 19 to use the MA24106A sensor with the Spectrum Master, VNA Master, BTS Master, and Economy Spectrum Analyzer (MS271xB). The software that is included with the purchase of the MA24106A is used to connect the sensor to a PC.

Does the MT8222A BTS Master support LTE measurements?

The BTS Master does not currently support LTE.  There is a plan, however, to add this functionality in the future.

How many scrambling codes are detected by the MT8222A Over the Air measurement?

The MT8222A OTA measurement displays the 6 strongest scrambling codes in the location of interest.

Are CDMA measurements supported in the Anritsu BTS Master?

Yes, CDMA measurements are supported in the BTS Master MT8222A as well as the Cell Master MT8212B.  Additionally both platforms also support EVDO measurements.
