FAQs
  1. Some installations report an access violation with MSVCRT20.DLL when no other applications are running. Select "Ignore" from the error message box. A following message box will pop indicating the application may not function properly if you ignore this error. Select "Yes". This error does not affect the installed product.
  2. The install program may need to restart windows to update some files. After windows has restarted, re-run x:\setup.exe to finish the installation (where x is the drive letter of the Handheld Software Tools install disk).
  3. Depending on other applications installed on your PC, the installer might find newer versions of DLLs on your PC than those contained on the Handheld Software Tools. Always keep the existing file already on your PC by selecting "Yes" from the message box.
  4. When installing Handheld Software Tools on a Windows 2000 operating system, the installer might find versions of DLLs on your PC that are out of date. Installation of Windows 2000, Service Pack # 4 is required. The Service Pack # 4 can be found at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=windows2000#nav-downloads.
  5. When installing the Handheld Software Tools from floppy disks, leave the 4th disk in the disk drive until the installation is completed. The installer needs this disk throughout the entire installation process.

  7. Question: Every time I try to download HHST, it gets all the way to unzipping the files and tries to run them and then says that I have to reboot windows to complete, which I've tried 3 times, it never finishes the download once my computer comes back up. Why is that?

    Answer:
    This happens when Microsoft releases new version of .dll's every now and then.
    Please download the latest HHST v6.61 from the website.
    It should have three files, once it is extracted.

    • 1. Setup.exe
    • 2. HSTv6_61.CAB
    • 3. SETUP.LST

    Please open SETUP.LST using Notepad.
    You can see a structure like this in the second paragraph.
    [Bootstrap Files]
    File1=@comcat.dll,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(DLLSelfRegister),,6/20/03 5:00:00 AM,3856,5.0.2195.1
