Introduction to Spectrum Analysis eLearning Course

This is a series of online courses is offered at no charge. All you need to do is register using the links provided at the bottom of this page. Registration will give you access for 30 days and you can view the modules as often as you like.

MODULE 1: This on-line course provides training on the basics of spectrum analysis. It is a beginner level course and there are no prerequisites. A virtual spectrum analyzer is included and is used for virtual labs in a demonstration of key concepts. Narration (in English), closed captioning and quizzes are also available in the course. Students that pass the final exam at the end of the course can print a training certificate. The course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Module 1 introduces underlying concepts and vocabulary in RF technology, and provides an overview of Spectrum Analyzer features and applications.

MODULE 2: This is the second in a series of modules providing training on the basics of spectrum analysis. The recommended prerequisite for module 2 is completion of module 1. Narration (in English), closed captioning and quizzes are also available in the course. Students that pass the final exam at the end of the course can print a training certificate. The course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Module 2 describes fundamental principles of antennas, sending and receiving RF signals, and types of modulation.

MODULE 3: This is the third in a series of modules providing training on the basics of spectrum analysis. The recommended prerequisite for module 3 is completion of modules 1 and 2. Narration (in English), closed captioning and quizzes are also available in the course. Students that pass the final exam at the end of the course can print a training certificate. The course takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. Module 3 explains the Superheterodyne Receiver Principle and how it applies to User Defined Settings in Spectrum Analysis.

MODULE 4 : This is the fourth in a series of modules providing training on the basics of spectrum analysis. The recommended prerequisite for module 4 is completion of modules 1, 2 and 3. Narration (in English) with video and interactive simulations. Students that pass the final exam at the end of the course can print a training certificate. The course takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. This module teaches the use of Markers and Limit Lines.

MODULE 5 : This is the fifth in a series of modules providing training on the basics of spectrum analysis. Recommended prerequisites are modules 1 through 4. Narration (in English), closed captioning with video and interactive knowledge check questions are available. Students that pass the final exam at the end of the course can print a training certificate. The course takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. This module demonstrates Trace and Sweep functions of the Spectrum Analyzer and explains their practical applications.
