How can I set the RF output level and frequency?

Press the Hard key [Output Level] while in the Parameter window to display entry window. Using the number key pad, input the output level desired.When completed , press the [dBm] key to set up the output level. For the frequency setting, press the blue [Shift] key and the press the [Input Freq] key and then enter the value desired followed by the appropraite frequency key..

Even if a termainal is not in a communication link with the MT8820A, is there a way to still measure power?

Even if the MT8820A does not connect with a terminal, it can measure power. In the Fundamental Measurement screen, the parameter "Power Measurement" is should be set to "On", and by pushing the Single key you can get a power reading on the unit.

In the MT8820A/MT8815A, how do I change the measurement system from WCDMA to GSM?

Push the [STD] Hard key. This displays the loaded measurement software. To change to GSM, push the soft key for the measurment system desired, in this case GSM. If GSM is not seen, you will need to verify that the system is available and loaded. Please consult the operation manual for more information.

How is a USIM card used ?

The USIM card is used for the loop-back-test by using it as substitution of SIM card which is actually installed in to W-CDMA terminal.

Does the GSM firmware support to the 900MHz band?

Yes, 900MHz band is available. The GSM software covers all of the following bands: PCS1900, DCS1800, 900, 850.

How does the MT8820A show whether or not the MX882000B-01 W-CDMA VOICE CODEC option is installed?

On the Parameter screen, press the [Audio] key. If the option"Handset" is available in the [AF] of Audio Input/Output, the option is installed. There should also be a sticker on the outside of the unit on the rear panel that shows that the option is installed.

How can I do a voice echo back test on a GSM mobile phone?

On the screen for setting parameter, open the window of TCH Test Pattern in common pattern. And Set "Echo". In case of the test by using handset, TCH Test pattern should be set to "Voice Codec" after the parameter of Codec has been set to [EFS].

How can I change the measurment software?

Pressing the [STD] key. The software which has been installed is displayed on Function menu screen. Select the software you want by pressing the soft key for the software desired to load the software.

How can I switch the "Main" and "AUX." of RF measurement connector?

Begin by pressing the Config hard key. Then select the RF Output-1 key. This will open a window where Main or Aux can be selected.

How does the MT8820A show whether or not the MX882051A-02 W-CDMA EXTERNAL PACKET DATA is installed?

In the Common Parameter section of the Parameter screen, if "Packet" exists as a selection in the list of Channel Codings of the Signal, it is installed.

How can I update the firmware of an MT8820A?

The software for updating is provided on a CD-ROM.Copy the contents of the CD-ROM to a PCMCIA memory card (supplied with the MT8820A) on your PC. Then follow the directions to install the software into the MT8820A via the memory card. Please refer to the instruction manual which is supplied together with the CD-ROM. Are options 11 and 12 required to be installed in an MT8820A to carry out the voice examination of a W-CDMA terminal?

Since it is an echo back examination in a voice cuff examination, no options are required of a terminal. In an opposite examination with a hand set, it is required.

What is the difference between the MX882000A and MX882000B WCDMA software for the MT8820A?

The MX882000A software contains the MX882051A sceanrio. In the MX882000B software the MX882051A scenario is not included and must be purchased separately. In the MX882000B software, other scenarios such as MX882050A/ 53A/54A can be selected. For more information the scenarios, please contact Anritsu.

In the MT8820A there is a GPIB command to turn the screen off. Is there a way from the front panel to cancel this and turn the screen back on?

Once you've turned the screen off remotely, there is no method using the front panel to cancel the screen-off and turn the screen back on. Only a GP-IB command [DISPL] can turn the screen back on again, or you must power cycle the system.

On the rear of the MT8820A there is a "Call processing port". What is this used for?

The call processing port provides an input for a BER measurement signal and an output of demodulated signal. The MN8110A I/O adaptor(sold separately) can enable you to change to a BNC connector.
