What is the difference between MU150001A and MU150001B?
The difference between the 'A' and 'B' type, is the chirp characteristics of these modules. The chromatic dispersion of fiber will influence as the chirp increases. Accordingly, long distance transmission should be performed with less chirp. The 'A' type has more chirp as it is used for measurement of short distance up to 2km (e.g., loop-back test). In most cases, the MP1570A is connected to the SONET equipment at the near end, so 'A' version is okay for this kind of application. However, the 'B' type has less chirp and can be used for 40km transmission. That means, the MP1570A can be connected to a SONET equipment that is at a 40km distance. Different chipsets and devices having low chirp are used in the 'B' type design, so that transmission can be as far as up to 40km.
