Is it necessary to have the lower rate interface module (MP0122A and/or MP0121A) for any SONET/SDH configuration?
Without these modules installed, the MP1570A/A1 only supports concatenation mapping only. In SONET configuration, when the MP0122A module is installed, DSn mappings (i.e. 1.5M/45M - Async., Bytesync, or BitSync etc.) are supported additionally. Similarly, in SDH configuration, when the MP0121A module is installed, PDH mappings (i.e. 2/8/34/139M - Async., Bytesync, or BitSync etc.) are supported in addition to concatenation mapping.
