Anritsu Expands Network Master™ Pro Capabilities with Introduction of PTP Wander Measurement Functionality


Enhanced MT1000A Supports Long-term Time Synchronization Stability of 5G Networks

Allen, TX – October 8, 2021 – Anritsu Company enhances its 100 Gbps Network Master™ Pro MT1000A with time error Precision Time Protocol (PTP) wander measurement functionality to evaluate frequency variations as low as 10 Hz. Adding the test capability to the existing PTP network time synchronization error capability of the all-in-one field tester provides communications carriers, network installers, and communications equipment vendors with a comprehensive solution to conduct service quality tests during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of emerging networks.

PTP wander is a key index expressing long-term time synchronization stability of 5G networks. With the new MU100090B module installed, the MT1000A can be used to ensure network quality meets the specifications for emerging use cases, including autonomous vehicles, smart factories, and telemedicine.

Product Background

Anritsu leveraged its extensive experience in designing solutions supporting jitter and wander test functions to develop the MU100090B. The Network Master Pro MT1000A expanded wander test capability supports quantitative evaluation of long-term synchronization stability. In addition, support for measurement of new Partial Timing Support (PTS) time-synchronization networks will help assure operators meet service quality guarantees.

The MU100090B is a GNSS disciplined oscillator that supports GPS, QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, and GLONASS. It can receive signals from each artificial satellite system and output a UTC-traceable reference time and 10-MHz frequency signals. This reference timing is supplied to the portable, smallest-in-its-class MT1000A supporting SyncE and PTP up to 25 Gbps, for accurate network time synchronization measurements. Combining the SyncE Wander MU100011A-021 and MU100090B software options into the MT1000A facilitates ITU-T recommended pass/fail evaluation of network-supplied Ethernet frequency accuracy.

When used with the Site Over Remote Access (SORA) MX109020A software, multiple MT1000A testers at separate locations can be remotely operated and monitored from a central office. In this configuration, fast troubleshooting when synchronization problems occur can be conducted.
