Anritsu Signal Quality Analyzer-R Series PAM4 PPG Certified by PCI-SIG for PCI Express® 3.0/4.0 Rx Link EQ Test

Allen, TX – August 3, 2021 – Anritsu Corporation President Hirokazu Hamada is pleased to announce that the PCI-SIG® has certified the company’s PAM4 pulse pattern generator (PPG) MU196020A module for its Signal Quality Analyzer-R MP1900A series as a recommended solution for PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0/4.0® (PCIe Gen3/4) compliance tests. Adding this PCI-SIG certification for the PAM4 PPG module to the MP1900A series prior certification as a measuring instrument for PCIe Gen3/4 compliance tests extends the BERT’s all-in-one test support from 3.0 to 6.0 in R&D environments.

Engineers can use the MP1900A with the MU196020A plug-in module installed to verify interoperability between transmission equipment with faster PCIe interfaces designed to meet the increased data traffic associated with 5G data centers. The certification assures that the Anritsu solution meets the PCI-SIG specifications of the Card Electromechanical (CEM) standard addressing compliance tests.

The MP1900A-MU196020A solution supports all-in-one PCIe 1.0 to 6.0 coverage to reduce cost-of-test. Additionally, the MP1900A supports real-time oscilloscopes from the three main manufacturers to automate complex receiver test procedures, including current 5.0 and emerging 6.0 standards.

PAM4 PPG MU196020A Overview

The certified PAM4 MU196020A PPG module outputs up to 64-Gbaud PAM4 signals. It achieves unprecedented signal performance with industry-best Tr/Tf of 20% to 80%, typical 8.5 ps time, and residual jitter of typically 170 fs. The multi-channel function can be expanded to four channels, and the emphasis function for correcting signals degraded by transmission path losses can be used for accurate margin testing and troubleshooting.

Additionally, the PPG MU196020A supports PAM4 evaluation of optical modules and NICs used by data center 200G/400G/800G Ethernet. One PPG covers evaluation of PCIe and high-speed Ethernet devices to help deploy various next-generation interfaces while controlling test equipment capital costs.
