JATE Adopts Anritsu 5G NR Test System for Japanese Regulatory Test Based on Telecommunications Business Law


Use of Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A and Carrier Acceptance Test Core Software Support Start of 5G NR Device Sales in Japan

Allen, TX – April 21, 2020 – Anritsu Corporation is pleased to announce that the Japan Approvals Institute for Telecommunications Equipment (JATE) incorporated foundation has adopted Anritsu's 5G NR protocol test solution as its measurement system for the 5G NR device Japanese regulatory test.

Terminal equipment sold in Japan must receive certification of conformity with the technical standards based on the Telecommunications Business Law to ensure the safety and reliability of communications infrastructure. Immediately following promulgation of this law in April 1985, JATE became the designated organization for implementing the Japanese regulatory tests of terminal equipment, and has been a world leader in this field for many years.

Anritsu test equipment has previously supported JATE’s LTE device regulatory tests, leading to the adoption of the Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A and Carrier Acceptance Test Core Software (CATCS) MX783480A for test certification of 5G NR devices based on the Telecommunications Business Law. With the test system adoption by JATE, Anritsu hopes to assist in the commercial rollout of stable and high-reliability 5G services as soon as possible. The MT8000A and MX783480A are key components of Anritsu's 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR, which can also be upgraded to support protocol conformance and carrier acceptance tests.

Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A

The MT8000A test platform supports the latest technologies required by 5G systems, such as wideband signal processing and beamforming. It simulates a base station to test 5G terminal and chipset performance and functions. One MT8000A unit supports both the FR1 (Sub-6 GHz) and FR2 (mmWave) frequency bands used by 5G and in combination with a radio anechoic chamber enables mmWave signal-quality and communications tests in an over-the-air (OTA) environment.

5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR

The ME7834NR supports both 5G NR Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) mode protocol conformance tests specified by 3GPP TS 38.523 as well as carrier acceptance tests. It is also registered by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) as 5G NR test platform TP251 for terminal certification.

The ME7834NR development was based on the earlier ME7834LA that supports LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro and W-CDMA protocol conformance and carrier acceptance tests. Customers with the ME7834LA can easily upgrade to the new ME7834NR 5G test system while keeping their tried-and-trusted LTE-A test environment.
