Anritsu Enhances Solution to Support 6 GHz Band RF Test for 5G FR1 Devices
2024/02/27

Anritsu Corporation introduces its new NR Licensed 6GHz Band Measurement MX800010A-014 software for the Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A, supports RF tests in the 6 GHz band (5.925 GHz to 7.125 GHz) for 5G FR1 devices.
Development Background
In the existing services operating on 5G FR1, the licensed bands are below 6 GHz. To cope with the increasing mobile data traffic, the licensed bands have been extended to the 6 GHz band (5.925 GHz to 7.125 GHz) in 3GPP Release 17.
Because of ongoing discussions about using the 6 GHz band for unlicensed bands for Wi-Fi and other wireless technologies as well, countries were divided over how to operate this frequency band. At WRC-23, which ended in December 2023, an agreement was reached to assign the upper 6 GHz band (6.425 GHz to 7.125 GHz) to the licensed bands of 5G FR1. Upon this agreement, Europe and Africa decided to assign the upper 6 GHz band for 5G FR1, following China, which has already been allocated in July 2023.
The RF performance of 5G FR1 devices depends on the frequency in use. The MT8000A covers RF tests in the 6 GHz band to enable countries to deploy services using 6 GHz licensed bands.
