The MW82119B PIM Master is a battery-operated, high-power (40 W) portable Passive Intermodulation analyzer with optional Site Master (cable and antenna analyzer) capability built in. It combines PIM testing with full Site Master line-sweep functionality — measuring PIM, Distance-to-PIM, Return Loss, VSWR, Cable Loss, and Distance-to-Fault — all in a single portable unit, so you can fully certify a cable and antenna system's condition with a single instrument. Anritsu PIM Master was the first combination instrument (PIM + line sweep in one battery-powered box), targeting field technicians and tower crews doing installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting on live wireless networks — including 5G, LTE, LMR and DAS deployments.
Typical applications:
- Identifying the presence of PIM - in communications RF line feeds and antenna systems
- Pinpointing sources of PIM on rooftops and macro cell sites — locating external PIM sources (loose hardware, corroded connectors, nearby metal objects) using distance-to-PIM measurement
- Distributed Antenna System (DAS) testing — verifying PIM performance across DAS networks
- RF component testing — characterizing linearity of connectors, cables, and other passive components before they go into service
- Antenna testing — checking antennas for PIM performance, both bench and field
- Macro site cable system testing — the classic use case: certifying feeder cable and antenna runs at cell sites
- Remote Radio Head (RRH) site testing — the rugged, portable form factor was specifically designed to enable both PIM and line sweep testing at the top of the tower, next to the RRH installation
