Signal Analyzer MS2850A’s New Options for 5G NR Signal Analysis

Anritsu announces the launch and sales from March 14 of the following 5G measurement software options compliant with the 3GPP 5G standards (5G NR hereafter) for measuring the RF Tx characteristics of next-generation 5G base stations and mobile communications terminals.

Installing these 5G Standard Measurement Software and options in the Anritsu Signal Analyzer MS2850A supports fast and stable signal-analysis measurements, such as Tx power, frequency error, EVM, etc., at frequencies below 6 GHz (sub-6 GHz) and in the millimeter wavebands (mmWave) such as 28 GHz band and 39 GHz band.
Anritsu is an industry leader in commercializing mobile communications measurement systems, starting from the first 2G/3G/4G standards, and this new 5G Standard Measurement Software will play a key role in early rollout of the latest 5G services.
With 3GPP progress in standardizing New Radio (NR) for 5G (5G NR), operators in the USA, Japan, Korea, etc., are moving rapidly towards commercial service rollout, while equipment vendors are shifting to the commercial development and production stages for market base stations and mobile base stations. To help facilitate early deployment of 5G services while meeting demands for high-level measurement technologies at lower instrument costs, Anritsu has developed the announced product release to improve the quality of 5G NR equipment while cutting costs.
The 5G measurement and NR software options announced today are installed in the MS2850A for developing and manufacturing 5G radio equipment. They support analyses of both uplink and downlink signals used by the sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands in the 5G NR standards by specifying combinations of multiple component carriers (up to 400 MHz) and sub-carrier intervals.
The MS2850A has the same or better dynamic range and amplitude/phase flatness as higher-end models but at a better cost-performance point, assuring both high-precision signal analysis and higher finished product quality at a lower instrument cost.
