Anritsu Company introduces the ACCESS Master MT9083B Performance Series, the next-generation in field measuring OTDRs for construction and maintenance of optical networks. Providing all the measurement functions and performance required for optical fiber construction and maintenance in a compact, lightweight, single instrument, the MT9083B series ensures Quality of Service (QoS) while reducing the cost of test by eliminating the need for multiple test sets and instruments on-site.

The MT9083B series has been designed with next-generation optical networks in mind. It features an exclusive, user-selectable, dual-circuit design that allows it to conduct high-resolution testing on PON-based FTTx networks featuring up to 64 splits. Other OTDR products force users to decide between high resolution and high range. An IP testing option verifies throughput, frame loss and point-to-point connectivity. Connector quality can be verified with an optional connector inspection microscope.

For traditional point-to-point optical networks, the MT9083B series not only features up to 42 dB of dynamic range but achieves industry leading performance for measurement speed and measurable distance with minimum deadzones of less than one meter. This translates into significantly reduced testing times for fiber spans from 10 m to 200 km, compared to other OTDRs on the market. With the MT9083B series, a 100km/62 mile fiber can be tested in as little as six seconds. Many fibers can even be tested in real time without any averaging due to the high performance optics in the MT9083B series.

Designed for the Field Field testing challenges have been addressed with the design of the MT9083B series. The OTDRs are ready to test in less than 15 seconds and can be used all day without recharging. True one-button fault location and pass/fail classification make it easy to conduct measurements, while an automated file saving capability makes it simple to store results. A macrobend detection feature allows installation issues to be identified quickly by field technicians. Anritsu has designed the MT9083B series with a rugged, sealed housing that provides years of service in the most challenging environments.
