Anritsu Enables Emergency Call Connectivity Tests for Dual-SIM Devices Across All Combinations of Japanese Carriers
2025/07/02

ANRITSU CORPORATION is pleased to announce that its 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR supports interoperability testing for Technical Standard Conformity Certification tests related to the “Dual-SIM” functionality in mobile devices. This feature allows mobile devices to maintain continued communication via a second line when the primary line fails, and enables separate voice and data usage to reduce costs. Dual-SIM is used widely as a solution that balances communication stability and cost-efficiency. By supporting tests of the Dual-SIM functionality, the ME7834NR enables device manufacturers and carriers to implement and certify this feature with greater efficiency and reliability.
This function was added as a test item to verify interoperability between mobile devices and carrier networks for Technical Standard Conformity Certification, following incidents when emergency calls could not be connected depending on the mobile device and SIM combination, which emerged with the growing adoption of multi-SIM devices. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) plans to mandate the assurance of interoperability for mobile devices starting July 1, 2025. Certain technical requirements are scheduled to come into effect in January 2026.
Anritsu will contribute to a stable and safe society by providing reliable measurement solutions that ensure secure communications.
