PC based IQ analysis software for use with IQ data captured from a Remote Spectrum Analyzer

IQ Signal Master MX280005A Vector Signal Analysis Software provides a comprehensive suite of measurements that deliver post processing and analysis of IQ data files captured on the Remote Spectrum Analyzers. The software is designed to bring together all the essential tools required to capture IQ data files and then gain critical insights into the nature of the captured signals. Modes within the application support the ability to capture or stream IQ data into the PC memory, perform modulation quality measurements and playback IQ data with high frequency and time resolution.

A file conversion mode allows IQ data captured on the supported analyzers to be converted to the format required for playback using a Vector Signal Generator MG3710E further enhancing the overall capability.

The software is designed for national RF spectrum regulators, security agencies and defense electronics companies who need to gain critical insight into RF signals that have been captured in the field. It is also suitable for organizations that need to monitor and protect RF spectrum from unlicensed operators or unintended sources of interference

Vision™ is a software application which runs on a PC/laptop using the Windows operating system (Windows 7/8/10/11). It can optionally be used for monitoring, identifying, and locating interference signals.

Vision Monitor

Vision Monitor is the visible user interface for monitoring remote spectrum activity. Measurement data is provided in a variety of formats including spectrum trace data, spectrograms, tables and plots. Real-time spectrum measurements can be accessed from anywhere in the network where multiple monitors are deployed.

The Vision Monitor application is fully automated. Measurements can be captured and periodically uploaded to a database for further processing. Depending on need and storage capacity, users can store spectrum history over many months or years. Typically in a system with 1,000 probes with each probe uploading spectrum data every 15 minutes, a 30 day spectral history would require about 1 TB of storage capacity.

Applications

The MS27200A module can be integrated into numerous systems/platforms or used as a standalone. The data gathered from the module could be fed into other systems for other applications. Multiple modules could be combined for new and unique applications as well.

Signal Intelligence (SIGINT)

With 110 MHz of analysis bandwidth and the ability to capture/stream at 32-bit, the spectrum module can be part of any SIGINT application. The module has the ability to trigger video when a signal of interest is detected and capture the start of the signal, all built into the module already. With various trigger options and settings, the MS27200A is a valuable asset to a SIGINT system.

Technical Surveillance Counter Measure (TSCM)

Tracking and locating unauthorized RF devices is a vital part of both government and private sectors. For TSCM it means having remote spectrum monitors to monitor a location. Often, this would be paired with other sensors. The MS27200A provides TSCM integrators with part of the solution that they can integrate into their system.

Interference Hunting

Interference can come in all forms and from anywhere. Having the right platform to locate the source can be difficult. The MS27200A module allows the ease of integrating a power spectrum analyzer into any platform, from cars and ships to drones. The system can be part of a large system to locate interference.

Manufacturing Environment

Whether it is for security or part of your manufacturing process, the MS27200A can be part of any manufacturing system. The module can be used to verify the product of various products. It can also be used to monitor the performance of your private 5G network and much more.

getting started

Connecting to the Microwave Spectrum Monitor Module using a Ethernet Network

Communication with the MS27200A is done via the GBit Ethernet port located on the board. Options are provided for using DHCP to obtain an IP address dynamically or for setting up a static IP address. The board is shipped with the default static IP address of 10.0.0.2. Once a connection is made to the board via a laptop/PC, the IP type can be changed via SCPI commands.

For DHCP usage, Anritsu offers a Discovery Tool that queries your network for all connected devices. The Ethernet Discover Program can be used to discover all Anritsu devices on the same network, it is available for download from downloads button.

Some customers may prefer to use a Domain Name Server (DNS) where the spectrum monitor’s hostname can be resolved into its dynamic IP address. A DNS server provides the ability to create a hostname. Examples might include hostnames such as “mymonitor1.org” or “spectrum1.net”. There are several free DNS services available. One such service used by Anritsu is www.no-ip.com. You will need to create an account and select a hostname for your instrument.

Further details about configuring your Ethernet connection can be found in our User Guide available for download in the Library tab.

Connecting to the Microwave Spectrum Monitor Module using USBTMC

USBTMC stands for USB Test and Measurement Class and allows GPIB-style communication over USB using USBTMC-compliant VISA layers. The USB Type-C port can be used for remotely controlling the MS27200A via SCPI programming.
