Water Discharge Management
Most of the water discharged by the Anritsu Group is daily water discharge from toilets and hand washing facilities. Industrial water discharge from the development and manufacture of semiconductor devices in the Atsugi site and Anritsu Company (U.S.) and kitchen drainage containing organic matter from the cafeteria in the Atsugi area are discharged after purification in a water discharge treatment facility. Both water discharges comply with the regulatory standard values of laws and ordinances, and we strive to prevent pollution.
Compliance with Water Discharge Regulation Standards
The Domestic Group has established voluntary control standards that are stricter than laws and ordinances, and is working toward the goal of “zero exceedance of voluntary control standards.
Destination of Water Discharge
The first and second factory at Tohoku Anritsu discharge directly into rivers (surface water). All other sites discharge into sewage systems provided by third parties such as local governments.
Water Discharge Treatment and Reuse
Industrial Water Discharge in the Atsugi site
An industrial water treatment facility is installed to detoxify water discharge from industrial water containing acids and alkalis and water discharge from small boilers used to control humidity in clean rooms. The system is designed to catch any leakage of raw water, water discharge in the industrial water of treatment, or chemicals for treatment from tanks or chemical tanks, etc. Dual monitoring and emergency shutoff valves are installed to prevent water exceeding the pH standard from being discharged outside.
Undiluted liquids of processing liquids and chemicals used in device development and manufacturing sites are collected in batches and sent to waste disposal companies for treatment, and we ensure that water discharge is only water used in rinsing containers. Heavy metals that may be contained in water discharge are controlled through periodic simple and official analysis.
Kitchen drainage in Atsugi site
The Atsugi site has a cafeteria where food is prepared in-house, and the kitchen produces water discharge containing organic matter. This water is treated using an activated sludge process and discharged.
Daily water discharge in Tohoku site
The water discharge from Tohoku Anritsu's No. 1 and No. 2 Plants is only domestic water discharge from toilets and hand washing. These are treated in septic tanks and discharged into rivers. Water quality is regularly measured to ensure that it does not exceed the standard values set by Fukushima Prefecture ordinances.
Monitoring equipment and emergency shutoff valves are installed in case of pH deviations from the legal limits due to boiler or septic tank malfunctions.

Industrial Water Discharge in the Hiratsuka Site
In the Hiratsuka site, metal materials are degreased and cleaned using alkaline cleaning solutions in metalworking operations. Rinse water for rinsing is circulated through a filter and ion exchange resin and reused. Waste cleaning solution is collected in batches and disposed of by a waste disposal contractor.
Industrial Water Discharge in the Anritsu Company (U.S.)
Undiluted chemicals used in device development and manufacturing sites are collected in batches and disposed of by waste disposal contractors. Water discharge from scrubbers* used to clean hazardous gases is circulated through filters and reused.
*Scrubber: A device that uses water or other liquids as a cleaning agent to collect and separate toxic components in exhaust gas by collecting them in droplets or liquid film.
