Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hamada) is pleased to announce that its New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR has won the GCF 5G Test Platform Approval Criteria (TPAC).

GCF defines certification test standards for commercial release of mobile terminals and requires conformance test systems that achieve certification for at least 50% of test cases used for 5G standards conformance tests as a condition for starting 5G NR terminal certification.

The ME7873NR successfully met this goal for 5G NR Sub-6 GHz non-standalone (NSA) mode RF conformance tests at the April 2019 GCF CAG*4 meeting. The certified test-case frequency bands are expected to be used in various Asian countries, starting with Japan. In addition, these TPAC-approved RF test cases are fundamental for measuring terminal TRx performance and will play a key role in commercial rollout of 5G terminals. With this success, GCF 5G NR NSA mode RF certification tests can now start, helping early deployment of 5G services.

Anritsu is continuing work on acquiring more GCF certifications for all 5G NR Sub-6 GHz tests, including the 5G NR Sub-6 GHz standalone (SA)*5 mode, which started certification in February 2019. The company is also focused on winning future certifications for mmWave frequency bands for 5G mobile networks entering commercial service soon after 2019, helping early market rollout of mmWave 5G terminals.

Product Outline

The NR RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR is an automated system for 3GPP TS38.521/TS38.533-defined 5G NR RF/RRM tests. It supports both planned 5G NR Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) modes, while combination with Anritsu’s 5G over-the-air (OTA) chamber (CATR) covers all 5G frequency bands, including not only Sub-6 GHz but also mmWave. The flexible system configuration can be customized easily for the measurement conditions while also supporting LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and W-CDMA RF tests as well as carrier acceptance tests (CAT); an upgrade from the LTE-Advanced RF Conformance Test System ME7873LA to add 5G support offers customers a cost-effective RF test system meeting required test conditions.
