MD8475A Wins Certification from a Chinese Mobile Carrier as Base Station Simulator for Global Roaming Tests
The MD8475A is the first base station simulator to be certified by a Chinese mobile carrier for global roaming tests.
Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hashimoto) is pleased to announce that its MD8475A Signalling Tester has been certified by a Chinese mobile carrier as a base station simulator for global roaming tests*1.
The MD8475A is an all-in-one base station simulator supporting LTE/LTE-Advanced UE, especially smartphone and tablet, service and communications functions tests.
With its support for all global roaming test items now required by this Chinese mobile carrier, the MD8475A is the first base station simulator to be certified by them for global roaming tests. It is being used for acceptance tests of LTE/LTE-Advanced UE communication module and chipset global roaming functions.
Additionally, UE, module and chipset makers are also using the MD8475A at the development stage for verification and perfection of global roaming functions.
The explosive spread of smartphones and tablets in China is helping drive development of LTE-advanced carrier aggregation*2 technology along with LTE. Anritsu is expanding future MD8475A test functions to help further the smooth spread of mobile broadband services in China.
The MD8475A Signalling Tester is a base station simulator platform supporting every mobile communications standard from the latest LTE/LTE-Advanced to earlier 3G and 2G standards; the built-in SmartStudio function controls the MD8475A to analyze and run test scenarios while the SmartStudio Manager software can automatically execute test scenarios remotely. A single MD8475A improves UE R&D efficiency by making it easy to execute service communications functions tests of multisystem smartphones and tablets.

This technology allows contracted carrier services to be received using the infrastructure of carriers in other countries and regions.
*2 Carrier Aggregation
This technology combines multiple frequeny bands to create virtual wide bandwith (range of radio-wave frequencies). In wireless communications systems, more data can be transferred at higher speeds when the band-width is larger. As an example, when a carrier with separate 20-MHz and 10-MHz bands uses this technology, a data rate equivalent to a contiguous 30-MHz wide frequency band can be achieved, increasing both the maximum and average communication speeds
