Efficient Use of Water

The Anritsu Group does not require large quantities of water for its businesses. However, we have clean rooms in Japan and the U.S. that use a lot of water, so we believe it is important to take steps to ensure that water resources are used appropriately.

Water Withdrawal Sources

The Atsugi site uses groundwater for flush toilets in some parts. But all other sites use public water systems (tap water) provided by a third party.

Reduction of Water Withdrawal

In the Atsugi site, we have been changing to water-saving toilets and encouraging employees to conserve water. Almost all toilets have been replaced with water-saving models, and this has had a major effect. We have installed automatic faucets and water-saving valves, and also carry out regular water leakage inspections.

The Hiratsuka site is engaged in metal processing and uses rinse water for rinsing equipment for degreasing and cleaning metal materials. The rinsing water is circulated and reused through the filters and ion-exchange resins.

In FY2020, Anritsu Company (U.S.A.) started its thin-film device manufacturing service business, requiring large amounts of water for cleaning, but is recycling the cleaning water and reusing scrubber water. The company is also cooperating with California's water-saving measures, replanting with drought-resistant plants and reducing the amount of water used.

Water Consumption

The Anritsu Group consumes just under 20% of the total water intake of the entire Group, for water evaporation in cooling towers for air conditioning, boilers for humidifying clean rooms, and for watering plants.

Consideration of Water Resources

A rainwater permeation basin h as been installed at our Global Headquarters Building at the Atsugi Site to facilitate rainwater infiltration, helping to recharge groundwater and preventing river flooding due to heavy rain.
