5G will be the communication platform of the IoT, which connects all kinds of things to the Internet. Big data collected via the IoT will be analyzed and processed using artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies, making the world safer and more convenient, and giving rise to businesses and technologies that have never before been imagined.

Anritsu has refined a wide range of wireless and communication analysis technologies, including not only cellular, but also Bluetooth® and WLAN, in order to assure and evaluate connectivity.

We continue to pursue “connecting” technologies in order to ensure the connectivity of people and things.

Wide Range of Wireless Technologies

IoT utilizes a wide range of wireless technologies as connection technologies. A variety of wireless standards have been defined, including 1.2/2.0/2.1/3.0+HS/4.0/4.1/4.2/5.0/5.1 for Bluetooth®, IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax for WLAN, and GSM/WCDMA/LTE/5G/Cat-M1/NB-IoT for cellular. In addition to measurement of signal quality, evaluation of connectivity and data-transfer performance is required, as well.

In order to perform such evaluations, we are constantly pursuing high cost performance and outstanding signal quality for testers and signal generators (SGs)/signal analyzers (SAs) that are compliant with wireless standards.

For example, MS2850A achieves EVM≦1%(28-GHz Center Frequency and 100-MHz Bandwidth Signal), In-band Amplitude Characteristics: ±1.25 dB, In-band Phase Characteristics: 6°p-p, (28-GHz center frequency and 1-GHz analysis bandwidth) for 5G Mobile Communications Systems.

Communication Analysis Technologies

We perform performance testing on the device under test (DUT) by connecting the test and measurement instrument through an evaluation setting called “direct (test) mode.” However, as such testing involves special conditions that differ substantially from the actual operating environment, this presents the problem that even if devices perform well during testing, the same performance is not guaranteed under actual use.

For example, technologies to analyze communication with the DUT, such as IEEE 802.11ac/ax network mode testing as well as GSM eCall testing, provide evaluation solutions in the actual operating environment, which enable verification of the DUT’s operation and evaluation of the data-transfer quality.
