Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hashimoto) announced the March 15 rollout of its new MX882012C-021 LTE-Advanced FDD DL CA Measurement Software for its popular MT8820C Radio Communication Analyzer supporting the world’s first all-in-one measurement tester*1 solution for LTE-Advanced*2 call-processing tests*3.
The MT8820C integrates the signal generator, signal analysis and base station simulation functions required for R&D and manufacturing of mobile appliances in a compact all-in-one platform.
Installing the released MX882012C-021 software in the MT8820C with LTE measurement functions supports call-processing tests (communications with simulated base station) of LTE-Advanced smartphone, tablet, and data card*4 Rx performance.
LTE-Advanced is the next generation mobile communications system offering mobile subscribers faster data speeds than LTE. Commercial deployment is planned in 2013 in the USA and Korea and terminal makers urgently require test equipment supporting LTE-Advanced call-processing tests to assure call quality between test handsets and base stations as they ramp-up production of LTE-Advanced terminals and data cards, etc.

Today's release now adds support for LTE-Advanced to this popular measurement solution as the world's first all-in-one tester supporting Rx performance evaluations at calling for LTE-Advanced smartphones, tablets and data cards.
The MX882012C-021 LTE-Advanced FDD DL CA Measurement Software is an option for the MT8820C Radio Communication Analyzer offering an all-in-one test platform for development and manufacturing of mobile communications terminals.
Installing it in the MT8820C for LTE measurements supports RF*5 tests using carrier aggregation*6. It is used to evaluate the receive performance of LTE-Advanced smartphones, tablets and terminals while calling.

LTE-Advanced has been developed as a multimode system supporting existing mobile networks including LTE, W-CDMA, CDM2000, GSM, TD-SCDMA, etc. The all-in-one MT8820C supports all these mobile standards with call-processing tests of multimode LTE-Advanced smartphones, tablets and data cards.

Installing the new MX882012C-021 measurement software in current MT8820C hardware extends the asset value of the MT8820C by adding future-proof support for LTE-Advanced test jigs and test environments at low cost.

In addition to supporting the carrier aggregation function, LTE-Advanced supports maximum throughput*7 of up to 300 Mbps using 2x2 MIMO*8 technology. Configuring a test platform composed of two MT8820C testers with LTE-Advanced measurement supports tests of LTE-Advanced smartphones, tablets and data cards with maximum RF throughputs up to 300 Mbps using 2x2 MIMO.

*8 2x2 MIMO: 2x2 Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output
MIMO is a wireless technology for sending and receiving data over the same frequency axis using multiple send and receive antennas. 2x2 MIMO uses two antennas each for sending and receiving. MIMO not only increases communications speeds but also stabilizes sending and receiving in a radio environment with many obstructions to radio waves and is a key LTE-Advanced technology.
