Launch of New MT8820C Radio Communication Analyzer Supporting Evaluation of Band22/Band42/Band43 LTE Mobiles.
Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hashimoto) has announced the rollout of its new MT8820C Radio Communication Analyzer with extended functions as the ideal measurement solution for evaluating LTE FDD Band22*1 and LTE TDD Band42/43*2 LTE smartphones and mobile terminals using the new 3-GHz band operating frequency.
The MT8820C supports all mobile communications technologies including LTE and is a popular measurement solution with terminal makers worldwide developing and manufacturing smartphone and mobile terminals. It is composed of a range of dedicated measurement hardware and software installed in the MT8820C main unit to support communications technologies including LTE, W-CDMA/HSPA, CDMA2000Ⓡ, TD-SCDMA, GSM, etc., for evaluating smartphone and mobile terminal TRx call-processing functions.
With this release, the new MT8820C now supports both previous mobile technologies plus the new LTE FDD Band22 (3.4 to 3.6 GHz) and LTE TDD Band42/43 (3.4 to 3.8 GHz) frequencies used by LTE smartphones and mobiles (communicating with base station simulator at TRx call-processing evaluations).
The 3-GHz band allocated to LTE FDD Band22 and LTE TDD Band42/43 assures a continuous wide frequency band*3 (3-GHz band: 100 MHz, 700 MHz to 2.7 GHz: 10 MHz to 20 MHz) compared to the 700 MHz to 2.7 GHz band currently used by LTE services. As a result, its introduction is being examined by the world's communications carriers because it can transfer 5 to 10 times more data, helping solve congestion problems caused by the current rapid increases in mobile data traffic.
Anritsu hopes the MT8820C with expanded support for LTE FDD Band22 and LTE TDD Band42/43 will help smooth the introduction and spread of mobile broadband services using LTE smartphones and mobile terminals.

The explosive growth of smartphones and tablets is driving expanded use of high-speed LTE mobile services matching the high speeds of FFTH. At the same time, increasing use of rich-content services, such as video streaming and graphics, is creating social issues resulting from the rapid increases in mobile traffic.
Consequently, LTE service providers are examining introduction of LTE FDD Band22 and LTE TDD Band42/43 using the 3-GHz frequency band, which can handle 5 to 10 times more data traffic than conventional bands. This is expected to result in increased future demand for measuring instruments for mass production of LTE smartphones and terminals supporting this band.

Installing LTE measurement software in this MT8820C makes it easy to support evaluation of future LTE FDD Band22 and LTE TDD Band42/43 LTE smartphones and mobiles.
The new MT8820C Radio Communication Analyzer supporting the 3-GHz band is a measurement platform for development and manufacturing of smartphones and mobile terminals. It is composed of a range of dedicated measurement hardware and software installed in the MT8820C main unit to support communications technologies including LTE, W-CDMA/HSPA, CDMA2000Ⓡ, TD-SCDMA, GSM, etc., for evaluating smartphone and mobile terminal TRx call-processing functions. In addition, support for Anritsu's patented ParallelPhone® measurement option enables simultaneous measurement of two mobiles, helping increase the efficiency of mobile production line testing.
The upper RF*4 range of this new MT8820C has been increased from the previous limit of 2.7 GHz to 3.8 GHz to support evaluation of LTE FDD Band22 and LTE TDD Band42/43 LTE smartphones and mobiles.
Moreover, this option can be retrofitted to previously shipped MT8820C units.
