Line Sweep Tools
Line Sweep Tools allows users to quickly and efficiently process captured line sweeps, as well as PIM measurements. In addition, it has some capability for handling common S parameter measurements as well as transmission measurements.
Marker and Limit Line Presets
LST has marker presets. Once setup, they make it possible to apply a set of markers to a trace with one button press. This ensures that markers are where they need to be, every time. Once set, a “next sweep” button lets you view the next trace with one button press.
Marker presets are invaluable when reviewing large numbers of line sweeps. LST has 7 sets of marker presets.
Often, line sweep file names, titles, and subtitles need to be changed to match a specific standard before submitting traces for payment. Often, it’s more convenient to do this task in the office than in the field. The Quick Name Matrix makes changing the trace file name, title, and subtitle a matter of pressing a few buttons to select pre-written text segments that can be used to create the final, formal, file name, title, or subtitle.
Automated Report Generation
LST has report generation for both PIM traces and Line Sweeps. Producing industry standard reports, in PDF format, LST can also create files in the industry standard DAT format.

easyTest has a few simple tools that allow experienced users to easily share their expertise with novice users. This simplicity allows experienced users to concentrate on their message and not the mechanics of creating a procedure.
All of the setups, procedures, and images used in an easyTest procedure are placed in one file, an ETT file, making distribution of the easyTest procedure simple. Modified firmware in the instrument recognizes this file type and works with it. Easy distribution by electronic means allows procedures to be easily kept current.
Simply pressing an icon on the instrument menu allows novice users to start the procedure. Once started, setups recall automatically, putting the instrument into the proper mode for the measurement. Images display hook-up instructions, prompts let end-users know if they need to press any buttons, and "saves" automatically save test results. All of this makes getting test results with Anritsu cable and antenna analyzers quick, reliable, and simple.
Also included with easyTest Tools are a set of sample procedures, allowing users to build their procedures by modifying our samples.
easyTest Tools procedures are powerful and flexible, while retaining a very simple interface for procedure writers.
easyMap Tools™ provides maps in formats that Anritsu's handheld spectrum analyzers can use for either coverage mapping or interference hunting. It helps users find and prepare geo-referenced maps and building floor plans for use by Anritsu handheld Spectrum Analyzers.
easyMap allows users to quickly:
- Create geo-referenced maps with pan and zoom capability
- Use either Google Maps or MapQuest (an Open Source map provider) to source maps
- Create legacy mode geo-referenced maps
- Convert maps and floor plans to a form suitable for use on Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzers
- Insert GPS information into previously non-geo-referenced maps
These capabilities make it possible to find and prepare maps and floor plans for use on Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzers.
easyMap sources map data from either Google Maps or MapQuest. Maps sourced from Google can be displayed as Terrain Maps, Road Maps, Hybrid Maps (A combination of terrain and road maps) and as Satellite view maps. These maps are quite useful when used in interference hunting or coverage mapping. However, Google Maps is not available in every country, due to country specific restrictions. MapQuest sourced maps are available as road maps, and come from the OpenStreetMaps movement. At this time, they are freely downloadable wherever internet access is available.
easyMap translates the map source into a format readable by Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzers. This translation allows up to seven zoom levels on the instrument and allows panning and zooming on the instrument. The result is the ability to have the coverage you need to hunt interference or map coverage and at the same time, have the detail needed to locate what you find, even over a large geographic area.
easyMap enables accurate coverage mapping and interference hunting using an Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzer and the MA2700A interference hunter handle with a GPS, Compass, and Preamp. No more fussing with maps and compass, no more worrying about magnetic deviation or the effect of your truck motor on the compass heading. easyMap enables accurate signal measurement and location in the field.
easyMap is focused on supporting option 25, Interference Analysis, and option 431, coverage mapping.
Wireless Remote Tools
For many of our instruments, Wireless Remote Tools is in the process of being replaced by Web Remote Tools, an instrument based application that allows remote control through a web browser.
Wireless Remote Tools™ is Anritsu's remote control software, available as a free download. It works with many of our Handheld RF Instruments. The Wireless Remote Tools software allows users to wirelessly monitor and control a wide range of Anritsu handheld RF instruments. Wireless Remote Tools provides a solution for the times when it is not practical to be close to the instrument.
Wireless Remote Tools allows users to have:
- Wireless access with the addition of a wireless pocket router
- Monitor and view instrument screens from the ground or desk
- Control instruments from the ground or desk
Since the Wireless Remote Tools software communicates over LAN with the Anritsu handheld instruments, there are many different ways to configure the communication link. One of the simplest methods uses a USB powered Wi-Fi router attached to the instrument. This allows control of the instrument from a safe place, for instance, when the instrument is physically on a tower top connected to a remote radio head, the operator could be on the ground.
The Wireless Remote Tools software allows users to monitor instruments remotely. This can be quite useful for long term spectrum monitoring, particularly when there is an intermittent issue, or when the exact nature of the issue is unknown.
In addition to monitoring, Wireless Remote Tools software allows remote instrument control. This allows experienced users to make measurements, analyze signals, and save trace data on the instrument while the operator is at a distance from the instrument.

The Wireless Remote Tools software works with these Anritsu handheld RF instruments:
- BTS Master: MT8220T, MT8221B, MT8222B
- Site Master: S331E, S332E, S361E, S362E
- Spectrum Master: MS2712E, MS2713E
- PIM Master: MW82119A, MW82119B
- VNA Master: MS2024B, MS2025B, MS2034B, MS2035B
- LMR Master: S412E
These instruments may need updated firmware to work with Wireless Remote Tools. The minimum firmware levels are:
- Site Master: v1.48
- Spectrum Master E series: v1.48
- VNA Master: v1.15
- PIM Master: v1.04
Master Software Tools
Master Software Tools (MST) allows Anritsu handheld Spectrum Analyzer users to Capture, Analyze, and Document traces and measurements taken with a wide variety of Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzers.
Specifically, MST is focused on these trace types:
- Spectrum and spectrogram traces
- Channel Scanner displays
- Transmission measurements
- Transmitter Signal Quality measurements
- Backhaul tests
Master Software Tools is the PC based software tool for analyses of Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzer traces.
MST can capture an instrument's trace data and transfer it to a PC for further analysis. Once on a PC, of course, the files can be sent anywhere in the world electronically.
MST has extensive trace analysis capabilities.
- Full featured marker capability allows users to illustrate issues or make detailed trace measurements
- Spectrum and Spectrogram concatenation allow users to view captured trace data with an extended time scale of hours or days. This allows rapid analysis of captured data when looking for anomalies
- Y axis scale conversions allow post-capture adaptations of the captured data for the intended purpose
MST has the capability to print one plot or many, in a variety of formats. As an alternative, traces can be exported into a PDF formatted report, with the trace, as well as the measurement parameters and device information visible.
Handheld Code Loader
Many older Anritsu handhelds are still in use today. This is a testimony to the rugged nature of the instrument. These instruments require the use of Handheld Code Loader to update their firmware.
There are 3 methods to update your Handheld Firmware depending on which model you have. Some models are "Firmware Version Dependent", so be sure to check your Firmware version before attempting to update your Firmware.
Not sure what version you're running? Turn on your instrument (the splash screen will tell you). Or from the keyboard; press the Shift + System Key , then press the Status option from the Sub Menu keys. The "Package Version" will display your current version of Firmware.

Web Remote Tools
Many Anritsu handheld instruments, including the MS2720T Spectrum Master, the MS271xE Spectrum Master, and S3x2E Site Master,and the MW82119B PIM Master, may now be controlled from any web-enabled device, including laptops, tablets, and smart phones. Windows, Android, iOS, and Linux operating systems all are supported, using the customer's existing web browser software (Chrome or Firefox preferred). An optional Ethernet port is required.
Spectrum Monitoring Needs
One traditional method of spectrum monitoring involves taking a spectrum analyzer to a site with an RF issue and waiting until the problem can be seen. If that takes too long, the spectrum analyzer would be setup to capture traces for a week or two, and later, the captured traces analyzed. If nothing was visible, a few settings would be changed and another week's worth of data would be collected. While this method is time-tested, it can be improved. Another spectrum monitoring issue focuses on testing Remote Radio Heads (RRU's) and other inaccessible radio units. Skilled technicians may be prohibited from accessing radio equipment located on a tower top or other hazardous location. This obviously makes testing and troubleshooting difficult.
Web Remote Tools allows many Anritsu handheld instruments to be controlled from web browsing devices. Once set up, your laptop, tablet, or smart phone can be used to control the instrument, download files, or check up on what it is seeing. The web browsing device must have an HTML 5 compliant browser and the instrument will need the Ethernet option. That’s it. PC software is not needed. Web Remote Tools brings flexibility to spectrum monitoring and remote control applications that have previously been lacking.

Remote Functionality Includes:
- Full instrument control: Interactive instrument control from anywhere with web access. Use whatever web-enabled computing device you have with you.
- easyTest scripting for the Spectrum Masters: Simplify complex spectrum monitoring requirements. One button measurement sequences.
- Download instrument files, directories, and sub-directories as a zip file: Get your test results on your computer where it’s needed!
- One-computing-device-to-many-instrument control: Control many instruments from one computing device, one instrument per tab.
While all instrument parameters can be freely controlled from Web Remote Tools, there are a few things that still require physical access to the instrument, including uploading files to the instrument, firmware updates, and listening to the instrument’s audio output. The instrument’s power switch is not remotely controlled. As mentioned above, the browser must be HTML5 compliant (Chrome or Firefox preferred).
Since no remote software other than the browser is needed, this means that these Anritsu instruments may be controlled from iOS, Windows, Android, or Linux-based computers, tablets or smart phones with web browser software. You can control or monitor your Anritsu Spectrum Master instruments from your current location, anytime night or day.
Handheld Software Tools
Handheld Software Tools (HHST) is legacy software that allows downloading traces from A, B, C, and D series Site Masters for PC based analysis and report generation. The replacement software is Line Sweep Tools (LST)
- LST's user interface will be very familiar to current HHST users.
- LST offers workflow enhancements that make the trace processing task much quicker.
- LST works with current Windows operating systems.

Installing your exe files
- Run the exe file and extract the file to your PC
- Open HHST to use the file and upload it to the unit
- Select the Tools menu and choose which file Editor you would like to upload
