Test & Measurement World Names Anritsu Coherent-OTDR Best in Test
MW90010A C-OTDR Named Top Network Physical Layer Test Instrument by Leading Trade Media Outlet
Anritsu Company announces that its MW90010A Coherent OTDR (C-OTDR) has won a prestigious Best in Test 2009 award from Test & Measurement World. The MW90010A, which delivers a number of performance advantages in measuring ultra-long submarine cables, was selected over countless instruments in the Network Physical-Layer Test category.
"Anritsu is committed to designing instruments that help in the development of Next Generation Networks (NGNs). Our MW90010A is the only C-OTDR that delivers the high performance necessary to ensure the quality of undersea cable networks supporting high-bandwidth Internet applications. Earning a Best in Test award shows that our design team has developed a truly innovative product that addresses a definite need in the optical communications market," said Wade Hulon, Vice President and General Manager of Anritsu Company, Americas Sales Region.
The MW90010A C-OTDR detects faults in ultra-long optical submarine cables of up to 12,000 km, including multiple repeaters (EDFAs). It is the ideal solution for evaluating new cables at service deployment as well as for troubleshooting in-service faults with a built-in tunable wavelength capability. The MW90010A can capture data from up to 1.2 million points on the horizontal axis at a fixed resolution of 10 m with no dependency on measured distance. As a result, faults can be located with very high resolution even in fibers longer than 10,000 km. Additionally, the MW90010A is less than half the weight and size of previous optical submarine cable measuring equipment.
