Anritsu Software Tool Box (Full Installer)

The Anritsu Software Tool Box contains tools to help you make the most of your Anritsu RF Handheld Instruments. This installer may not require internet access while running. See the software tools pages for details. Anritsu Software Tool Box includes Line Sweep Tools, Master Software Tools, Wireless Remote Tools, easyTest Tools, and easyMap Tools. This stand-alone installer will download all Anritsu software needed to install your chosen PC Tools software, and do so all in one file. This is ideal if you will be doing the installation on a computer without internet access. Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 computers may still need internet access to download the Microsoft .NET 3.5 suite of support files.

I am using the Tripp Lite USB to serial adapter. I have verified the adapter is installed properly and the adapter shows up on Com 4 on my PC under Ports (Com & LPT). The port setting is port 4 in HHST. I have all baud rates set correctly and I still get an error in serial communications after several seconds.

If you have a wireless device enabled on your PC or laptop this can interrupt the serial communication.  Go to Network connections and verify your Wireless Network connection type LAN or high speed internet is disabled.  Even it says disconnected you should disabled it.  This has been known to help in cases where everything is set up properly.  Wireless devices such as Palm Pilots can cause this also so disable all wireless devices that you use.

Can you tell me the difference between the 2000-767-R and the 2000-1618-R?

The only difference is the frequency range. The 2000-767 is DC to 4 GHz and the 2000-1618-R is DC to 6 GHz. There is also a female 7/16 Open/Short/Load part number 2000-768-R and 2000-1619-R. 2000-768-R frequency range is DC to 4GHz and 2000-1619-R is DC to 6GHz.

Can you capture the power monitor (option 5) measurements by using the "Capture Current Plot to Screen F2" function of Handheld Software Tools?

No, for sitemaster "C" Models and below, this function is not supported.  You can use this function on the "D" Model sitemasters.  (S311D/S312D, S331D/S332D, S810D/S820D, MS2711D).

How accurate is the positioning location of the GPS (opt 31)?

Approximately +/- 20 Meters but this is not specified.

What is the specification for the commscope cable FXL1480PE?

The Propagation Velocity is: 89%.  The cable loss is: .00835 dB's per feet at 1000 MHz .0124 dB's per feet at 2000 MHz .0159 dB's per feet at 3000 MHz This is not an Anritsu made or sold cable.

A coax return loss measurement on my S331D is not passing. How can I tell if the problem is due to a bad coax or if the Site Master is faulty?

Do a visual inspection of all connections on the site master, cal components and test port cable.  Carefully clean all connectors and then re-test.  If the test is still not passing do the following: Calibrate at the site master leaving the load on after the CAL ON is displayed.  The Return loss should be 42dB or better.  With good components and a good Site Master 55-60 dB return loss is typical.  If the Return loss after the calibration is acceptable put the phase stable cable on the Site Master and put the termination at the end of the test port cable.  The typical Return loss of a good phase stable cable should be 30dB.  If you as seeing a 20 RL or less the phase stable cable might need replacing.  Even though you calibrate at the end of the phase stable cable when an RL of 20dB of less on a phase stable cable is not good.  You can also try moving the cable with the load on the end of it after calibration while watching the RL sweep.  A bad cable exhibit wild swing up and down as you move the cable around. If the Site Master calibrates correctly and the phase stable cable looks good try testing a known good coax cable of the same type.  If it this cable looks good then the original coax cable is likely to be the cause of the problem.

Does Anritsu have calibration procedures for the OSLN50LF, OSLN50, and OSLN50-1?

These components can be returned to Customer Service for calibration but the procedures are not available for customers.

How do you convert Handheld Software Tools (DAT type file) to PDF acrobat files?

Handheld Software Tools by itself cannot create PDF files. Additional S/W is needed such as Adobe Acrobat. Once this additional software is installed on the PC most PDF creation software would use the "print" function of the Handheld Software Tools, select the PDF creation software as the "printer" and the resulting output would be a file in PDF format.

Does cable loss affect the system return loss?

The short answer is yes. The return loss of a cable & antenna system will be different if you are making a return loss measurement of a 15 dB antenna with two different cables. The return loss of the system is proportional to  2*CL (Cable Loss). System designers takes this into consideration when determining the specifications.

When using a Sitemaster, what is the maximum cable loss I should measure using the 1 port method?

The maximum cable loss one should expect to have an accurate measurement is 10 dB or less.  For measurements that exceed 10 dB, the uncertainty increases significantly.  The 2 port cable loss measurement technique should be used in these cases.

I have difficulties downloading the signal standard file from the instrument to HHST when I use the USB-RS232 adapter, what can I do?

This has to do with the COM settings. For signal standards, it is assuming that you are using COM1 and if you are not, it will be challenging. To change this, please see below: Go to Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Ports -> double click on USB to RS232 -> port settings -> advanced -> change COM number to 1 In HHST: Settings -> Communication -> COM1

The measurement range of the Power Monitor Option (5) for Site Masters is -50 to +20 dBm. Can we measure power greater than +20dBm?

To measure power greater than +20 dBm an external attenuator is required. The display range of the instrument is -80 dBm to +80 dBm so therefore you can measure up to +80 dBm with a 60 dB external attenuator.

Will a Polyphaser alter the return loss of an antenna sweep?

The frequency response and isolation of the Polyphaser should be better than the Antenna. The Polyphaser would be transparent to the antenna sweeps response.

On my S331D I performed a calibration in the return loss mode and took my measurement. I then switched to DTF mode and the calibration on turned to off.

Turn the unit off. Hold the "ESCAPE" key down and turn unit on. Let go of the "ESCAPE" key as soon as the screen turns on. Set up your test in return loss mode and perform a calibration. Perform your test and then go to the DTF mode. Verify this fixed the issue.

When creating Custom Cable list using Handheld Software Tools to upload to a Site Master, what is the maximum number of cable types that can be stored in the Site Master (current platform and old platform)?

125 cables for current platform and 49 cables for old platform. Current platform: MT2812B/S331D/S332D with firmware version of V3.00 or higher. Any S810D/S820D, regardless of firmware version. Old Platform: All other models/firmware versions other than listed above.

What are the specifications for the SC5237 (6 dB offset termination) and SC5270 (20 dB offset termination)?

SC5237: DC to 4.0 GHz, 16.4 to 16.8 ohm 6dB +/- 0.25 dB SC5270: DC to 4.0 GHz, 40.66 to 41.1 ohm 20dB +/- 1.5 dB

I am trying to download 12 traces from my S331D to a database using HHST I consistently get an error on 3 traces although not the same 3 when I try to do this. I also tried to capture the plots to screen but the same thing happens. I am using the latest firmware on the handheld and have the current version of HHST.

On your laptop or PC go to network connections. Left click on Wireless Network Connection to highlight it and then right click. If disable is an option disable the wireless connection and try to download your traces to a database. You may need to power off/on the sitemaster. More detail can be found at: http://www.us.anritsu.com/downloads/files/HHST_COM1.pdf

Can I charge my Site Master battery and the spare battery at the same time?

Yes, by using the optional Battery Charger (2000-1029). The charger has two slots which can be populated with the Site Master battery (removed from the instrument) and the spare battery. The batteries will be charged sequentially. The battery charging procedure is outlined in the User's Guide.
