Anritsu Company continues to address the verification requirements associated with mobile product design with expanded measurement capability in its MD8475A that allows the comprehensive signaling tester to efficiently meet emerging test requirements. eCall System and MSD ERA GLONASS support have been added to the MD8475A, and enhancements have been made to the SmartStudio interactive test environment that simplify the process of developing operator-specific VoLTE test cases for improved evaluation of devices incorporating IMS and GBA.
With the eCall and ERA GLONASS options, the MD8475A operates as a base station simulator and provides communications module vendors, in-vehicle equipment vendors, automobile makers, and mobile operators with a single instrument to cost-effectively and efficiently verify products and systems are in compliance with regulations. The eCall Tester application software allows the MD8475A to simulate the European eCall system to verify Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) sequences used by eCall in-vehicle communications. Additionally, it can simulate and test communications faults much more efficiently and easily than on a live network. Adding the MSD ERA GLONASS option expands the simulation coverage to support the Russian ERA GLONASS system, as well as the eCall system.
The MD8475A eCall/ERA GLONASS configuration supports laboratory verification and is a dramatic improvement over using a live network to test emergency call systems. It reduces development time, thereby improving time to market, and lowers test costs because evaluations can be performed in-house using the MD8475A. With the new eCall/ERA GLONASS options, the MD8475A support is expanded to mobile broadband business applications.
SmartStudio Simplifies IMS, GBA Evaluation
Installing the new IMS Script Basic, GBA Authentication, and IMS Early Media SmartStudio software in the MD8475A allows the signaling tester to simulate different test environments for operators globally to support mobile terminal evaluations. The GBA Authentication and IMS Early Media software simulate different operator services, including VoLTE test cases, to perform laboratory pre-testing before release. All tests can be run without writing test sequences to reduce the number of evaluation regressions, development time, and mobile test costs. The IMS Script Basic software can create any IMS sequence used by each operator to help discover and correct pre-release issues.
The MD8475A Signalling Tester removes the technical barrier for smartphone evaluation and reduces test costs by integrating all required test items in a single solution. It supports tests for battery consumption, automated integration/regression, data throughput performance, mobile service, and basic feature evaluation.
