Unique Feature Allows Public Safety Radio Manufacturers to Use Real-world Signals in the Laboratory and Production Line for Greater Accuracy and Verification

Anritsu Company (IWCE booth #1034) will show its innovative Capture & Playback feature for its MS2830A and MS269xA series Spectrum/Signal Analyzers at IWCE, to be held March 18-19 in Las Vegas. Capture & Playback leverages the products’ unique architecture, which offers integrated vector signal analysis and generation in a single instrument, to allow manufacturers of chipsets and public safety radios to use real-world signals in the laboratory and production line for greater accuracy and more thorough verification of designs before the radios are used in mission critical environments.
With the push of a button, Capture & Playback allows design and manufacturing engineers to conveniently capture up to 100 MHz of spectrum and play it back at any designated frequency and amplitude. Capture & Playback enables engineers to easily transfer waveform data acquired using the signal analyzer to the integrated signal generator, where the signal can be reproduced with the stability and repeatability of a laboratory-grade instrument. After the waveform data has been transferred to the signal generator, the amplitude and frequency can be tuned freely to determine performance margins on the device under test (DUT). Capture & Playback replaces a complex process that would otherwise require multiple instruments, file transfers and data conversions.
Engineers can use the MS2830A and MS269xA with Capture & Playback for validation, characterization, electromagnetic compatibility and production testing of devices and components. Capture & Playback can be used to conduct spot performance checks on public safety radios, troubleshoot elusive receiver blocking problems experienced in the field, and its accuracy and repeatability can yield greater confidence that public safety radios will operate as planned in their intended environments. By delivering laboratory-grade results from real-world signals, Capture & Playback combines the benefits of field testing and simulation without the drawbacks of each.
Anritsu’s MS2830A and MS269x Spectrum/Signal Analyzers with optional built-in vector signal generation are flexible, compact, single-instrument solutions for testing transmitters and receivers. They offer up to 125 MHz signal analysis bandwidth at frequencies up to 43 GHz, 120 MHz bandwidth vector signal generation at frequencies up to 6 GHz, and support for numerous wireless interfaces. The 100 Msamples of signal analyzer memory translates to a 50s capture duration for a 1 MHz span and 5s for a 10 MHz span, enabling the simple capture and playback of complex sequences of signals.
