Anritsu Company Launches Certified Training Course on Fiber Optic Theory and OTDR Use
One-day, Instructor-led Class Addresses Fiber Optic Theory, Optical Connector Care, and OTDR Operation to Help Field Professionals Ensure Optical Network Operation
Morgan Hill, CA
Anritsu Company introduces a Fiber Optic and OTDR Certification Course designed to help field professionals more accurately and efficiently test optical networks. Attendees of the one-day, instructor-led certification training will learn fiber optic theory, how to properly select and care for optical connectors, and the practical application and use of OTDRs.
"For 13 years, Anritsu has been conducting instructor-led classes that have resulted in nearly 20,000 technicians receiving certification. This industry-leading approach to providing educational resources that help field professionals do their jobs more effectively continues with the creation of our first fiber optic-based training course," said Bob Cooper, Customer Service Manager at Anritsu Company.
Three subject matters are covered in the course. Fiber Optic Theory focuses on light propagation, fiber types, and connectors, splices, and stresses. Next is Optical Connector Cleaning and Inspection and addresses cleaning methods, microscope use and analysis (based on IEC 61300-3-35) and shows examples of bad connectors. The class concludes with OTDR Theory and Operation and reviews the principles of OTDRs, setting up the instrument, and testing tower cables. Attendees will use Anritsu's ACCESS Master™ MT9083x2 and Fiber Visualizer to experience hands-on set up of an OTDR, perform tests and generate the pdf close-out report.
The course has been developed to help field engineers, installers, site managers and technicians for wireless carriers, base station OEMs, tower companies, and cable providers do their jobs efficiently and effectively. Students who pass the course will receive an official Anritsu Fiber Optic and OTDR Certification credentials and photo ID badges.
Public classes are offered in various US locations. Private sessions are available, based on instructor availability. To learn more or register for a course, visit www.anritsu.com/training or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
