VoLTE Voice Quality Test Features for MD8475A Wireless Network Simulator Introduced by Anritsu

Enhanced MD8475A is Ideal Platform for Cost-Efficiently Assessing Audio Quality of UEs Under Real-World Conditions

Anritsu Company (CTIA booth #6123) announces the availability of new features for its MD8475A Network Simulator that enable measurement of VoLTE voice quality of wireless devices. With the new features, the MD8475A can report voice quality metrics for both AMR-NB and AMR-WB voice codecs. When coupled with pre-existing functional test capabilities, including circuit switched voice calls on both GSM and UMTS, the MD8475A is an ideal platform for assessing audio quality under real-world network conditions. Anritsu will demonstrate these and other MD8475A test capabilities at CTIA2013, May 21-23, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas.

“Anritsu is pleased to support VoLTE voice quality testing with our MD8475A Wireless Network Simulator. We understand that operators rolling out VoLTE services cannot afford to sacrifice voice quality when they add the exciting features that packet switched voice enables,” said Michael Barrick, Sr. Business Development Manager, Anritsu Company. “We look forward to helping operators and device makers add next-generation services while continuing to meet their customers’ expectations for voice quality.”

The MD8475A Signaling Tester is a compact, Windows 7-based tester capable of emulating two base stations or 2x2 MIMO, with available formats including LTE (FDD and TDD), W-CDMA/HSPA+, TD-SCDMA/HSPA, GSM/(E)-GPRS, and CDMA2000. Both packet-switched and circuit-switched calls are supported, with available VoLTE, circuit-switched fallback (CSFB), and Simultaneous Voice-LTE (SV-LTE) functionality. End-to-end and data throughput testing is supported by the tester to LTE Category 4 rates of 150 MB/s, with the capability to install user-supplied servers inside the MD8475A or to connect external servers. Anritsu’s SmartStudioTM GUI provides easy graphical control of the MD8475A, and the internal state machine emulates real network operation without the need for scripts.
