Anritsu Company introduces TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA/HSPA options for its MD8475A that extend the Signaling Tester’s capability to test UE functions, including voice calls, browsing, streaming, SMS, and MMS, to these new formats. The MD8475A is now a more comprehensive multi-format UE tester that can be used by UE manufacturers to fully emulate multi-cell environments using these newly supported standards in combination with existing 2G, 3G, and FDD LTE support.
The MD8475A’s new TD-SCDMA/HSPA option enables the Signaling Tester to simulate multiple types of calls, including voice, data, and video, with data rates up to 2.8 MB/s in the downlink. Likewise, the new TD-LTE option enables data calls with flexible uplink/downlink configurations, with data rates up to 87 MB/s using Configuration 5. This added coverage complements the MD8475A’s existing capability for FDD LTE, GSM/(E)-GPRS, and other standards.
“Anritsu is pleased to support UE OEMs with needed test capability for TD-capable UEs,” said Wade Hulon, General Manager and Vice President of Anritsu Company. “We understand that consistent and well-behaved UE functionality is essential to guarantee customer satisfaction with a carrier’s network. We are proud to enable UE OEMs to test functionality and assure compliance in the lab before it is rolled out to consumers.”
The MD8475A Signaling Tester is a compact, Windows 7-based tester capable of emulating two base stations or 2x2 MIMO, with available formats, including LTE (FDD and TDD), W-CDMA/HSPA+, TD-SCDMA/HSPA, GSM/(E)-GPRS, and CDMA2000. Both packet-switched and circuit-switched calls are supported, with available Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) functionality. End-to-end and data throughput testing are supported by the tester, with the capability to install user-supplied servers inside the MD8475A or to connect external servers. Anritsu’s SmartStudio GUI provides easy graphical control of the MD8475A, and the internal state machine emulates real network operation without the need for scripts.
