Anritsu Company introduces hardware options for its MP2100A BERTWave series that allow the compact instrument to support BER measurements and Eye Pattern signal analysis between 125 Mbit/s and 12.5 Gbit/s. The new options create an all-in-one, efficient test solution that can conduct highly accurate measurements on optical modules, cables and connectors during the R&D and manufacturing stages.
The new options add support for next-generation 10 Gbit band devices while also offering evaluation of low bit-rate active optical devices designed into communications systems. With the new options, the MP2100A BERTWave supports all major optical standards, including 100BASE-FX, OC-3/STM, and OUT-2. Additionally, the MP2100A BERTWave series supports LTE CPRI v4.1 bit rates (6.14, 4.92, 3.07, 2.46, 1.32 Gbit/s) to conduct highly accurate and efficient LTE CPRI optical transceiver inspection tests.
High-accuracy extinction ratio measurements can be achieved, as one new option adds six built-in Bessel filters to the MP2100A BERTWave base unit. These advanced Bessel filters are combined with the instrument’s built-in calibration function control measurement dispersion to assure extinction ratio measurements as close as possible to the true value.
The new options extend the benefits of the MP2100A BERTWave. A single instrument solution, the MP2100A BERTWave combines the measurement capability of a Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) and an Eye Pattern analyzer, improving test efficiency and lowering the cost of test.
Further improving test efficiency and throughput is the high-speed remote measurement capability of the MP2100A BERTWave that reduces BER measurement times by 30% to 10 ms. Measurement times are also improved due to the instrument’s high-speed sampling, which enables the acquisition of 100,000 samples in about 1 second. The MP2100A BERTWave also supports Automatic Mask Margin tests within 1 second.
Compact and lightweight, the MP2100A BERTWave measures only 341 (W) × 221 (H) × 180 (D) mm and weighs less than 7 kg, so it saves valuable benchtop space. Additional cost savings are realized by the fact the MP2100A BERTWave requires only 300 VA of power.
Pricing is $7,600 for the Bit Rate Expansion option and $2,690 for the Low Pass Filter option. The base unit MP2100A BERTWave is $63,150. Delivery is 4 to 6 weeks.
