Anritsu Introduces High Power 0.8 ƒm Super Luminescent Diodes (SLDs)

New Optical Components Feature High Precision, Low Coherent Noise, High Resolution, Wider Spectral Half Width, and Sharp Directivity for Use in Variety of Applications

Anritsu Device Company Ltd. introduces the AS8Y1100M30M/AS8C1150Z30M 0.8 ƒm High Power Superluminescent Diodes (SLDs) that feature higher precision with low coherent noise, higher resolution with wider spectral half width, and sharper directivity. The overall performance of the AS8Y1100M30M/AS8C1150Z30M make the SLDs well suited for optical sensor/encoder, optical coherent tomography (OCT), and optical measurement applications. They can also serve as a substitute for high-power LEDs.

The AS8Y1100M30M is available as single mode fiber coupled coaxial module, while the AS8C1150Z30M is designed in a 5.6 CAN package. Both have the inherent advantages of SLDs, including a broadband spectrum, high spatial coherence and high optical output power. The AS8Y1100M30M has an optical output power of 1mW and the AS8C1150Z30M has optical power of 5mW, and typical spectral half width of 17 nm.

The SLDs can be used in any application requiring high power and a wide spectrum. They are well suited for chromatic dispersion measurements of optical components and optical fibers; design into temperature sensors, strain gauge sensors and pressure sensors such as those used for oil exploration and pipelines, and can be used in OCT biomedical imaging applications.
