I have an S332D with the Transmission Measurement option. If I turn on the Bias Tee while in the Transmission Measurement mode and then go to the Frequency Return Loss mode without turning the Bias Tee off does the DC voltage on the RF out port stay on?

Yes the DC voltage will still be present at the RF out port in this scenario. If you do not need the voltage for your test you should turn the Bias Tee off before going to the Frequency Return Loss mode to save battery power.

Can I use the Transmission Measurement option (Opt. 21) in my S332D to make Antenna Isolation tests?

Yes, in some cases this might be a better option than using a Tracking Generator.

I bought a new battery for my Site Master but when I plug it in it says Battery Cal Lost.

The battery designed to work with the Site Masters has circuitry that communicates with the mother board.  If you bought an off the shelf battery it will not have this circuitry and will display this message.  If it is a battery was bought from Anritsu then you may need to contact an Anritsu service center.

On the Site Master what are the differences between Option 5, Power Monitor and Option 29, Power Meter?

Option 5 requires a external detector. The measurement range is -30 to +16dbm. Option 29 does not require a external detector and has a measurement range of -80 to +20dbm.

Does the Anritsu Site Master support P25 demod?

Presently the Site Master does not support P25 demod.

Does option 16, 6GHz Frequency Extension for the S332D increase the spectrum analyzer frequency capabilityto 6GHz?

No, the 6GHz Frequency Extension only applies for the Cable and Antenna measurements that the S332D can make.

What Options are needed on S332D Site master to do TMA Gain Measurement?

Required options are, Option 21 (Transmission Measurement) and Option 10A (Bias Tee). These options can be installed to an existing unit by sending the unit to the Anritsu Service Center.

Is the AC power adapter for the S331A the same as the S331D.

No, the AC-DC adapter for the S331A (p/n 40-115) is different than that used for the S331D (p/n 40-168).

On my S332B I am getting Batt Comm error beep every few seconds after installing an off the shelf battery, can you tell me why?

The S332B communicates with the battery and an off the shelf battery may not be compatible. It is recommended to only use Anritsu supplied batteries to ensure the correct battery is being used.

Can I save display a Power Monitor measurement on my S332C?

Power Monitor measurements cannot be saved to display on the S332C.  This functionality was added in the D series of site masters.

I have a USB-Serial Converter cable model No: U209-000-R. This came with the Anritsu site master that I am using. Where do I get the firmware drivers for this cable? There is no CD with the equipment that I have.

This cable converter is made by Tripp*Lite  Go to their web site and search for the U209-000-R driver and download for your operating system, either Windows XP or VISTA.

What the IP3 specification for the preamp. on an S332D?

There is no IP3 specification for preamp on S332D.

I am using a VISTA 64 bit operating system and Delorme USB to serial adapter and I cannot get HHST to work.

HHST is compatible with VISTA 32 bit operating systems but not with VISTA 64 bit OS.  Also per Delorme their USB to serial adapter is not compatible with VISTA 32 or 64.

Does Option 50 (T1/E1 Analyzer) on S331D support fractional T1 testing? Can this option be installed on S332D model?

Option 50 does not support fractional T1 testing and this option cannot be installed on an S332D.

On my S331D I performed a calibration in the return loss mode and took my measurement. I then switched to DTF mode and the calibration on turned to off.

Turn the unit off. Hold the "ESCAPE" key down and turn unit on. Let go of the "ESCAPE" key as soon as the screen turns on. Set up your test in return loss mode and perform a calibration. Perform your test and then go to the DTF mode. Verify this fixed the issue.

What is the difference between the internal power meter and the high accuracy power meter on the Handheld products?

The internal power meter is using the Spectrum Analyzer receiver to measure the channel power over a certain bandwidth. The high accuracy power meter uses an external RMS sensor which makes a broadband power measurement. The sensor provides better accuracy than the internal power meter and is also better suited for making accurate measurements of modulated signals. The main advantage of the internal power meter is that it allows you to make power measurements of specific channels and it can filter out anything outside the bandwidth you entered. The high accuracy sensor will add everything up that is in the path.

How can we use the Site Master to make antenna isolation measurements?

You need a 2-port measurement so you can send out a signal from a transmit antenna and monitor the signal coming in at the receive antenna. You can either use the S251C with its insertion loss mode or you can use the Site Master and Cell Master with its Transmission Measurement modes. The benefit of using the S251C is that the nominal output power is higher or about +6 dBm vs. about -10 dBm with Option 21. The further apart the antennas are, the lower the signal will be in the Rx antenna and for optimum dynamic range it is helpful to use max power level. When you make the measurement, you start out calibrating the instrument with a through cal (Option 21) or a 1-path 2-port cal (S251C insertion loss mode). When you connect a cable from the RF out to the RF in port of the Site Master, you should see a flat signal. When you then connect RF Out to a Tx antenna and RF in to a Rx antenna, you are essentially looking at how much power is going into the Rx antenna or the acutal isolation between the two. Depending on the system and the setup, the values will vary and you'll need to check with the system engineer to see what is recommended for your system.

I am trying to download 12 traces from my S331D to a database using HHST I consistently get an error on 3 traces although not the same 3 when I try to do this. I also tried to capture the plots to screen but the same thing happens. I am using the latest firmware on the handheld and have the current version of HHST.

On your laptop or PC go to network connections. Left click on Wireless Network Connection to highlight it and then right click. If disable is an option disable the wireless connection and try to download your traces to a database. You may need to power off/on the sitemaster. I have difficulties downloading the signal standard file from the instrument to HHST when I use the USB-RS232 adapter, what can I do?

This has to do with the COM settings. For signal standards, it is assuming that you are using COM1 and if you are not, it will be challenging.

To change this, please see below:
Go to Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Ports -> double click on USB to RS232 -> port settings -> advanced -> change COM number to 1
