There are two things to keep in mind when using a LAN remote connection to the handheld testers: 1) Changes made to the LAN settings do not take affect immediately - the power must be cycled for the changes to take affect. 2) In an effort to maximize battery life, if no LAN connection is detected at power up, the LAN parts are turned off. The only way to turn the LAN parts on is to turn the power off, connect to the LAN, and then turn power on. So, in this case, where the LAN configuration was set and the connecting made, cycling power should allow a connection to be made.
Yes. Although you are doing a 2 port measurement RF power is only going from the RF port to the RF In port. The open and short calibration combined with the Load on RF out and RF in and the through calibration will calibrate the unit properly.
On the unit select Shift/File and then press the soft key for Directory Management. Use the soft key current location to select internal (Int) instead of USB. Make sure Int is underlined.
Approximately +/- 20 Meters but this is not specified.
Operating Temperature: -10 degree C to 55 degree C. Storage Temperature: -51 degree C to 71 degree C.
Yes, the MS272XB family of Spectrum Analyzers supports quasi-peak detection.
No, the CW Generator cannot be used at the same time as the spectrum analyzer. The tracking generator can be used at the same time as the spectrum analyzer but not at a fixed frequency - the frequency of the tracking generator is the same as (tracks) the spectrum analyzer frequency.
Certain versions of software for the Spectrum Master (MS2721B, MS2723B, and MS2724B), the VNA Master (MS2024A, MS2026A, MS2034A, and MS2036A) and the BTS Master (MT8222B) have an issue with the display of the last octet of the subnet mask. In these versions of the software, if you set the last octet of the subnet mask to a value other than 0, then view the setting when the ethernet is NOT connected to another device, the last octet of the subnet mask will be displayed as 0. However, the correct subnet mask is stored, and if you connect the ethernet connetion before powering up the tester, the subnet will be displayed correctly.
No. The InstaCal Calibration Module, ICN50, will not work on the VNA Masters ( MS2024A, MS2026A, MS2034A, MS2036A) or the BTS Master (MT8222A).
The MS272xB, MS271xB, MS2711D, MT8222A and MS20x6A are equipped with a broadband detector that is designed to sense signal levels at the input to the first mixer that may cause inaccurate measurements due to saturation. Most competitive instruments don't have a method to deliver such a warning and allow the user to take measurements that likely are inaccurate. These inaccuracies can include lower amplitude values and the generation of signal harmonics due to mixer saturation.
Some options for the S331D Site Master require additional hardware or calibration factors to be loaded into the unit so the work needs to be done in either an Anritsu service center or at the Morgan Hill, CA facility. For other options, these can be added via a license file and instructions on how to complete this process are shown below:
Generating an Instrument Config File and Installing A New License File
To automatically queue the Anritsu website for updates, you must configure the Master Software Tools (MST) Internet Settings.
1. Run the MST program.
2. Connect to the instrument.
3. Generate a Config File
a. Pull down the Sync menu and highlight Device Status and Options to open the submenu.
Get Options Highlighted (config file)
b. Click Get Options (Config File). The Save Config File window opens.
c. Go to the folder where the license file was previously stored.
d. Highlight the file and press the Open button. The filename format is model-spaceserialnumber.license.
e. MST will install the new license into the instrument. After the installation is complete, a dialog appears.
“Instrument options successfully upgraded. Cycle power on the instrument to begin using the new features”
f. Follow the instruction.
g. Verify the new option(s) are listed on the boot up screen.
There is a rack mount kit available for current models of handheld instruments. The part number is 66864. This kit can be used with the following models: S331E, S332E, S361E, S362E, MT8221B, MT8222B, MT8212E, MT8213E, S412E, MS2024B, MS2025B, MS2034B, MS2035B, MS2026C, MS2028C, MS2036C, MS2038C, MS2722C, MS2723C, MS2724C, MS2725C, MS2726C, MS2711E, MS2712E, MS2713E, and MS2721B
At this time, the only supported control of the Master series products is via Ethernet control.
S11 Forward Reflection represents the measurement in which the signal leaves port 1 and is reflected back to port 1. S21 Forward Transmission represents the measurement in which the signal leaves port 1 and is transmitted to port 2. S12 Reverse Transmission represents the measurement in which the signal leaves port 2 and is transmitted to port 1. S22 Reverse Reflection represents the measurement in which the signal leaves port 2 and is reflected back to port 2.
Log Mag Dual Overlay will display both S11 and S21 on the VNA Master screen simultaneously overlaid on the same set of graticules. You get no choice of how to look at them – Log Mag only. S21 is the yellow trace, measured against the left-side graph scale. S11 is the blue trace measured against the right-side graph scale. The sweep will alternately update S11 and S21. It can not sweep both s-parameters simultaneously. When Log Mag Dual Overlay is active, the Scale hard key menu will add an extra soft key that will toggle between S21 and S11 scale modification. The features were added for those of our customers who spend a lot of time tuning filters and duplexers, and want to be able to watch both traces while tuning.
Yes but you need to be very careful that the RF from another Source is not going to exceed the 20 dBm max on the RF port. Power in excess of 20 dBm can result in damage to the unit.
No. If someone sends you a .csv file MST cannot be used to convert it back to a .vna file to be opened in MST.
