What type of information can be stored in the External Flash Memory of MS2721A and what is the procedure to erase the contents of this memory.?

The external flash memory is not used by the instrument for its normal operations. However, the user may transfer the contents of the internal flash memory into the external flash memory for storage or data transfer purposes. There is no mechanism in the instrument to erase the contents of the external flash module. The module is removable so it does not pose a security risk as it can remain in a secured area, be externally erased by installing it in a card reader attached to a computer, or be destroyed.

I need to know the memory configuration of MS2721A (including types, sizes, volatility).

The MS2721A has 64 MB of Flash non-volatile memory, two 32kB EEPROM chips, and 64 MB DRAM volatile memory. The instrument is supplied with an external 64 MB Compact Flash module that is plugged into a socket on the top of the board. It does not have a hard drive or any other type of volatile or non-volatile memory.

What information is saved in the EEPROM on an MS2721A?

The information stored in this memory location contains the instrument's model number, serial number and calibration data. Also stored here are any user defined operating parameters such as frequency range. During a master reset process all user defined operating parameters stored in the EEPROM are overwritten and set to standard factory default values.
