Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hashimoto) is pleased to announce that the company's LTE-Advanced RF Conformance Test System ME7873LA earns GCF*1 approval for more than 80% of Cat-M1*2 RF Conformance Test Cases*3 for IoT communications.
Cat-M1 is an LTE standard defined in 3GPP Release 13*4. It is expected to see widespread use in various fields, such as smart meters, home security, freight tracking, automated point of sales, health-care equipment, etc., using LPWA*5 technologies developed for IoT. North-American operators have started deployment of Cat-M1 services followed by more rollouts in Japan, the EU, etc., during 2017. Although accelerating development of Cat-M1 devices seems likely, compatible interoperability between devices developed by different makers will become an issue. To resolve these problems, GCF requires standards conformance tests using GCF-certified test cases. One condition for starting certification is that the measurement instrument maker must obtain at least 80% certification for its conformance test cases.
In April this year, Anritsu became the first manufacturer to win Cat-M1 GCF certification for its LTE-Advanced RF Conformance Test System ME7873LA, which was soon followed by winning approval at the July 2017 GCF Meeting for additional new certified test cases.
As a result, Anritsu RF Conformance Test System test cases have now won better than 80% GCF certification for frequencies used in Japan, North America, and Europe.
Anritsu continues focusing its efforts on obtaining more GCF certifications for Cat-M1 conformance test cases with the intention of fast-tracking Cat-M1 device certifications.
The Cat-M1 RF Conformance test cases are software tools for Anritsu's previously released LTE-Advanced RF Conformance Test System ME7873LA; installing these newly released test cases in the ME7873LA supports tests ensuring that Cat-M1 device RF TRx characteristics and performance are in compliance with the 3GPP standards.
