Anritsu Corporation (President: Hiromichi Toda) announced that its ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System has marked a world-first by receiving GCF*1/PTCRB*2 approval certification for RF Conformance Tests*3 of 3.5G HSPA*4 mobile terminals with the TRX Diversity(note) function.
The ME7873F is a test system for conducting RF Conformance Tests of 3/3.5G mobile terminals; these mobile terminal vendors assure worldwide connection compatibility (interoperability*5) by running RF Conformance Tests using GCF/PTCRB-approved test systems.
The ME7873F has already been approved by GCF/PTCRB for TRX and performance tests of HSPA mobiles and, with today’s announcement, it is now approved for the extended TRX Diversity Test as well, making it the only test system in the world to meet all conformance test requirements.
Anritsu, the world leader in conformance test systems, will continue offering its customers the best solutions for the newest GCF/PTCRB approval tests updated four times a year.

This is an extended function of HSPA mobile terminals using multiple antennas to receive a radio-wave signal. The signal received by the antenna with the most stable radio wave is given the highest priority and is used at sending too.
As a result of the explosive growth in mobile services worldwide, mobile networks are seeing rapid increases in packet data speeds. In these circumstances, 3GPP*6 approved TRX 3.5G HSPA mobile terminals to offer better-quality, rich-content, multimedia services, marking the start of full-scale commercial development of mobiles with this function.
Development of 3/3.5G mobile terminals demands assured interoperability, which requires conformance testing using GCF/PTCRB-approved test systems.
However, until today there have been no GCF/PTCRB approved test systems supporting the TRX Diversity test. Consequently, Anritsu has strengthened the functions of its ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System used by operators and mobile terminal vendors worldwide as an RF Conformance Test System by obtaining GCF/PTCRB approval for TRX Diversity tests. The ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System performs automatic RF Conformance Tests of 3/3.5G mobile terminals. It has more GCF/PTCRB-approved test cases than any other test system manufacturer for measurements, including W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA Evolution terminal TRX tests, performance tests, etc.
With this announcement, the ME7873F increases its competitive edge by adding the TRX Diversity Tests included in the WI-076 HSDPA RF Performance(Note) standard.

The ME7873F has obtained all the necessary approvals for the RX Diversity*7 and Equalizer*8 functions defined by WI-076. With the new TRX Diversity function approval, it is the perfect measurement solution for RF Conformance Tests required by the WI-076 recommendation.
(Note) WI-076 HSDPA RF Performance
This test item is defined by GCF/PTCRB based on 3GPP FDD Release 6 that extends the HSPA standard and includes TRX Diversity, RX Diversity, and Equalizer functions. WI-076 determines the test items required for assured interoperability of HSDPA mobile terminals with these built-in functions.
