MS269xA Series Signal Analyzers Equipped With a Vector Signal Generator, DigRF Interface, and Software is Superior Test Alternative to Multiple-Instrument Test Beds


Anritsu Company introduces a test platform that dramatically reduces bench space, cost, and the time necessary to conduct accurate evaluations on the transmit and receive performance of DigRF RFICs based upon the recently released 3.09 version of the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) DigRF 3G standard. The platform, consisting of the MS269xA Series Signal Analyzer equipped with a vector signal generator, a DigRF interface, and measurement software, is a single-instrument alternative to existing DigRF test systems.

The MS269xA-based solution provides a faster, easier, and more cost-efficient method for developers and manufacturers to ensure their RF and RFIC modules used in mobile devices are in full compliance with DigRF v3.09. The software package includes a Sequence Editor feature that produces test scripts without programming or scripting languages. Using a simple GUI, the user selects the commands to send via drop and drag controls. With only a few mouse clicks, users can set timing, modify commands, and save test scripts. By simply loading the scripts into the measurement platform, users can begin testing.

During testing, the power level and frequency of the RF output signal can be changed using interrupt commands while the test continues to run. The MS269xA has a resolution of 10 ns, which makes timing precise. The platform, which acts as a baseband emulator, analyzes the I/Q data and the RF signal to provide key metrics for DigRF 3G evaluation. Technologies supported include GSM/EDGE and W-CDMA/HSPA.

Further simplifying operation is the integrated application control software. One easy-to-use screen allows control of all functions associated with the testing. No other test solution on the market can offer the combination of compact size, efficiency, and price for evaluating DigRF 3G RFIC transmit and receive performance.The MS269xA Signal Analyzers support all popular wireless technologies, including LTE, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA, HSPA, and mobile WiMAX. Three models covering frequency ranges of 50 Hz to 6 GHz (MS2690A), 50 Hz to 13.5 GHz (MS2691A), and 50 Hz to 26.5 GHz (MS2692A) are available in the series, so users can select the instrument that matches their measurement requirements. With a fundamental band that goes to 6 GHz, these high-performance signal analyzers have excellent level and modulation accuracy.

The basic instrument includes a spectrum analyzer for classic swept mode measurements, signal analyzer for high-speed, wideband FFT analysis, and a digitizing function that allows the capture and replay of any signal received by the analyzer. The basic analysis bandwidth is 31.25 MHz, the widest base analysis bandwidth on the market. The addition of the broadband hardware option increases the analysis bandwidth to 125 MHz. An optional 6 GHz vector signal generator creates a one-box tester that saves time, money, and space on the bench.
