Anritsu Company (booth #717) and Teledyne LeCroy will demonstrate an ultra-high-speed signal generation and BER measurement solution in the Teledyne LeCroy booth (#735) at DesignCon 2016. The solution will integrate the Anritsu MP1800A BERT Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) and MZ1834A PAM4 Converter with the Teledyne LeCroy LabMaster 10 Zi-A, the world’s highest bandwidth real-time oscilloscope, featuring the company’s PAM4 Signal Analysis package.
Combining the Anritsu MZ1834A PAM4 Converter with the MP1800A BERT supports generation of high-quality 64Gbps PAM4 signals with the best signal-to-noise ratio. At DesignCon 2016, these signals will be input into the Teledyne LeCroy LabMaster 10Zi-A, whose industry-leading bandwidth and sample rate – up to 100 GHz at 240 GS/s – will enable the signals to be captured with pristine fidelity. The PAM4 Signal Analysis software will allow for comprehensive signal-quality analysis, including jitter measurements, Rj/Dj separation, noise analysis, extensive jitter and noise visualizations, and IsoBER contour plots.

The Anritsu MP1800A BERT SQA incorporates a built-in Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) for generating the highest-quality, highest-amplitude signals in the industry, as well as a built-in Error Detector (ED) with the highest input sensitivity available. It can be configured to generate the high-quality, low S/N, PAM4 and PAM8 data signals necessary for the characterization of high-speed backplanes and 400 GbE interfaces when the MZ1834A/MZ1838A 4PAM/8PAM Converters are used.
LabMaster 10 Zi-A Oscilloscope
The LabMaster 10 Zi-A features unmatched capabilities for analyzing high-speed serial and coherent optical signals. Its modular design allows up to 20 acquisition modules with 80 channels to be connected to a single display. Teledyne LeCroy’s PAM4 Signal Analysis package performs a complete analysis of PAM4 waveforms. It analyzes the signals, creates eye diagrams, measures eye closure in voltage and time, and predicts closure as a function of BER. It is fully integrated into Teledyne LeCroy’s sophisticated MAUI user interface, allowing for advanced capabilities such as channel emulation and de-embedding
