Anritsu Company has expanded its millimeter-wave (mmWave) measurement solution product line with the introduction of the MA2808A high-performance waveguide mixer designed for the MS2830A Spectrum Analyzer/Signal Analyzer
. The easy-to-use integrated solution features excellent minimum sensitivity performance and a wide measurement span to support mmWave measurements necessary to validate equipment used in E-band wireless backhaul as well as automobile collision avoidance radar applications.
The MA2808A is designed for the MS2830A in the 26.5 GHz/43 GHz configuration. Combining the two instruments achieves P1dB performance at better than 0 dBm and a minimum sensitivity of -150 dBm/Hz. This best-in-class specification allows the solution to measure very weak signals that could not be captured using legacy harmonic-mixer and down-converter methods. It also supports design and testing of higher-level mmWave wireless equipment.
Supporting a high IF of 1.875 GHz, the MA2808A/MS2830A configuration can perform spectrum and mask measurements of signals with a 1 GHz bandwidth and display the results without image-response effects. A new patent-pending function for extending the measurement span supports measurements up to a bandwidth of 7.5 GHz.
Anritsu has designed the solution for simplicity and ease of use. A single cable connection between the MA2808A and MS2830A is all that is required to configure a mmWave spectrum measurement system, much more efficient than traditional systems incorporating a down converter, mixer, spectrum analyzer, and microwave signal generator. Additionally, conversion loss data for the entire frequency range is preloaded into the MS2830A by simply connecting a USB memory stick and pressing a button. This automatically corrects measurement results for each frequency.
The MS2830A Spectrum/Signal Analyzer is a flexible, compact one-box Tx and Rx test solution that offers high-end performance and measurement speed at a mid-range price. All five models in the family feature best-of-class dynamic range and total level accuracy to minimize measurement uncertainty. A variety of built-in measurement functions, including channel power, occupied bandwidth, adjacent channel leakage power, and spurious emissions, are available in the MS2830A. It supports comprehensive vector modulation analysis of proprietary and standard wireless communications signals, including 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced, UMTS W-CDMA, EDGE, GSM, cdma2000, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/j/n/p/ac, Mobile WiMAX, Bluetooth, ZigBee.
