Anritsu Company (DesignCon booth #601), a world leader in high-speed test instrumentation, is showcasing its signal integrity test solutions, such as the MP1800A BER Testers – including a new 32G solution – and VectorStar Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), as well as optical module and active optical cable test instruments at DesignCon 2012, to be held January 30 — February 2 in Santa Clara, CA. Sessions on signal integrity measurements and S-parameter measurement methodologies for 28 Gbps will also be presented by Anritsu representatives during the show.
Signal Integrity Solutions
The MP1800A and 40 GHz 4-port VectorStar are part of a 28 Gb/s backplane and interconnect signal integrity demonstration. The MP1800A will provide a 28 Gb/s output to effectively indicate effects of emphasis on the "far-end" of a backplane channel. VectorStar, with frequency coverage down to 70 kHz, will show the impact of low-frequency data on simulated eye diagrams. The combination of the MP1800A’s best-in-class pattern generator eye quality and error detector sensitivity, and the frequency- and time-domain capabilities of VectorStar create an extremely accurate signal integrity testing solution.
For broadband and millimeter-wave (mmWave) signal integrity applications, the VectorStar ME7838A 2-port 70 kHz to 110 GHz VNA will be on display. A finalist in Test & Measurement World's Best in Test competition, the ME7838A has unmatched frequency coverage, measurement speed, and calibration and measurement stability. Providing the industry’s broadest single sweep frequency coverage, the ME7838A offers the highest TDR measurement resolution with the best impedance accuracy. It is also the first mmWave system with real-time leveling of power without the need for calibration software correction tables.
Optical Module, Active Optical Cable, Direct Attached Cable Test Solutions
Also on display at DesignCon will be the MP2100 BERTWave all-in-one BERT and EYE/Pulse Scope solution, and the MS9740A optical spectrum analyzer, for evaluating XFP/SFP-type optical modules, laser devices and optical cables used in optical communication systems. The MP2100 combines a BERT and sampling oscilloscope to reduce Gating Time by 90% compared to conventional BERT equipment and the EYE/Pulse Scope function is 300% faster. Offering excellent price/performance, the MS9740A can measure optical devices in <0.2s, has <e;58 dB dynamic range, and 30 pm minimum RBW.
Testing of optical modules for 40/100G Ethernet applications will also be shown. The MD1260A 40/100G Ethernet Analyzer is ideal for manufacturing inspection of transmission equipment supporting 40/100GbE, as well as for installing and commissioning 40/100 GbE networks. It will be configured with a 10-lane extender to highlight CFP evaluations.
Hiroshi Goto, Business Development Manager, Anritsu Company, will be presenting a paper entitled Signal Integrity Analysis and Calculation of Ideal Emphasis Settings on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:15 a.m. The presentation will discuss the need for pre-emphasis to maintain signal integrity in high-speed transmissions.
Dr. Jon Martens of Anritsu is part of a presentation on Monday, January 30 at 1:30 p.m. Entitled High-confidence S-parameter Measurement Methodologies for 15-28 Gbps, the session is a practical tutorial dealing with improving confidence in >70 GHz measurements. Presenting with Dr. Martens will be James Bell and Alfred Neves of Wild River Technology, LLC.
