Anritsu Company (booth #1913), a world leader in high-speed test instrumentation, announces that its MP1800A Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) will be used by Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND), a leading supplier of high-speed optical, analog and mixed signal semiconductor solutions, at OFC/NFOEC 2011, March 8-10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The MP1800A SQA will validate the bit error rate (BER) of Gennum’s latest optical chip set solutions that are demonstrated in an SFP+ form factor and are suited for 10G EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) symmetric and XGPON/10G asymmetric line-rate operations.

In the Gennum booth (#1857), the Anritsu MP1800A will be used in a demonstration that will also include Gennum’s GN7355, the industry’s first single-chip 10G EPON transceiver IC; the GN7354, the first XGPON and 10G EPON asymmetric single-chip transceiver solution; and the GN7468, a 10G EPON TO-can that provides excellent sensitivity performance along with the industry’s lowest power dissipation. Integrated with PON application software, the MP1800A will help validate the ability to re-use the 10G symmetric design to address the XGPON and 10G asymmetric market by generating burst data that is sent to the various Gennum chip sets.

The MP1800A SQA has can support multiple burst data BER measurements to simulate PON networks. For example, the MP1800A can support four synchronized 14G BERTs or two 28G BERTs, which can be upgradable to a serial 56G BERT. The MP1800A SQA delivers the highest quality waveforms that include the lowest intrinsic jitter. Complicated searching for input thresholds or phase adjustments is simplified with the touch of a single key. It is ideal for research and development of 100 GE, optical modulators, high-speed logic, integrated circuits (ICs), digital systems and PON.
