Anritsu Corporation (President, Hirokazu Hashimoto) has announced the launch of the company’s new MT1100A Network Master Flex transport tester for optical networks from today.

This all-in-one versatile transport tester platform comes with three plug-in modules:

1.The MU110010A module supporting OTN*1, Ethernet*2, SDH/SONET*3, PDH/DSn*4 and Fibre Channel*5 measurements at speeds from 1.5 Mbps*6 to 10 Gbps*7; 2. The MU110011A module supporting OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, and Fibre Channel at speeds from 10 Mbps*8 to 100 Gbps*9; and the MU110012A module supporting OTN and Ethernet at speeds from 40 Gbps*10 to 100 Gbps.

Installing a combination of one or two of the MU110010A, MU110011A, and MU110012A modules in the MT1100A supports evaluation of optical networks at speeds up to 100 Gbps. In particular, the 4-port*11 configuration supports simultaneous evaluations of 100 Gbps OTN and Ethernet—a first for this class of measuring instrument—increasing the testing efficiency for 100 Gbps transport equipment. Furthermore, the MT1100A also supports 400 Gbps (4 x 100 Gbps) network client signal*12 tests currently in development as the next-generation standard.

With this launch of the MT1100A and suite of MU110010A, MU110011A, and MU110012A modules, Anritsu is looking to take a leading role in development, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of optical networks.

[Development Background]

The recent explosive growth of mobile data traffic is driving increasing need for wider bandwidths in communications networks. Core networks are installing 100G Ethernet and 100G OTN, etc., at a fever pitch while requiring high reliability due to the large data volumes and various client signals. Every stage from R&D through to manufacturing, and installation & maintenance urgently needs accurate equipment for network testing and evaluation.

Anritsu has developed its new MT1100A Network Master Flex with a suite of three MU110010A, MU110011A, and MU110012A modules to meet this need.

Installing one or two of these modules in the MT1100A supports all-in-one measurement for development, manufacturing, and installation & maintenance of the latest network technologies at speeds ranging from 1.5 Mbps to 100 Gbps, including the latest 400 Gbps (100 Gbps x 4) client signals

[Product Outline]

The MT1100A Network Master Flex is an all-in-one transport tester platform with a suite of three measurement modules: 1. The MU110010A module supporting OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, PDH/DSn, and Fibre Channel measurements at speeds from 1.5 Mbps to 10 Gbps; 2. The MU110011A module supporting OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, and Fibre Channel at speeds from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps; and the MU110012A module supporting OTN and Ethernet at speeds from 40 to 100 Gbps.

Installing either one or two of these measurement modules in the MT1100A supports all-in-one measurements of BER*13 and Throughput*14 required for evaluating OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, PDH/DSn, and Fibre Channel networks at speeds up to 100 Gbps. In addition, 400 Gbps (100 Gbps x 4) client signal tests are supported by installing two MU110012A modules simultaneously.

■ All-in-one Evaluation of Optical Network Communications up to 100 Gbps

Optical networks carry signals for a variety of communications systems, including OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, PDH/DSn, and Fibre Channel. This new transport tester launched today supports evaluation of all the above communications systems. As well as covering the main optical network transport protocols at speeds of 1.5 Mbps to 10 Gbps, it also supports the faster 40 and 100 Gbps speeds used by large-capacity trunk Core networks and Metro networks.

■ 100 Gbps 4-Port Simultaneous Testing

Installing two MU110012A modules in the MT1100A transport tester main-frame enables simultaneous 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps tests using 4 ports with test results displayed on one screen. This greatly increases the efficiency of R&D and manufacturing of Core network equipment as well as opening commissioning of multi-port Core networks

■ 100 Gbps OTN Mapping Tests

Both Ethernet and SDH/SONET signals are carried over OTN and this MT1100A transport tester can generate the Ethernet and SDH/SONET client signals needed for testing over OTN circuits. As a result, OTN evaluations can be performed in a near-to-live test environment to easily troubleshoot and test the causes of communications error on OTN, Ethernet, SDH/SONET, and Fibre Channel networks.

■ Excellent Portability and Usability

This transport tester is battery powered for easy portability both onsite and in communications carriers’ back offices. Additionally, the easy-to-read, large, 12.1” color LCD and touch-panel operation coupled with remote command operation over an Internet connection plus simultaneous testing using 4 ports, help increase work efficiency at optical network installation & maintenance.

■ Customized Expandability

The MT1100A can be customized to the application using the suite of three measurement modules and software supporting different communications systems at speeds ranging from 1.5 Mbps to 100 Gbps. Its future-proof design with easily expandable functions supports every possible Ethernet and OTN configuration both today and into the foreseeable future.
