Welcome to Base Station Central!

The base station is at the core of your RF wireless installation. It’s where you make the connections for your cables, antennas, transmitters and receivers. And it’s where most problems can occur that can affect performance through component failures, wireless interference or incorrect installation or maintenance. The result can be unacceptable downtime for your networks, and time-consuming work to fix the problem by your field techs.

Anritsu's Base Station Central is here to help. We've gathered a variety of technical resources to help you track problems, educate your people, look up terminology and much more. You’ll also find product specs for a full line of base station testers, cable and antenna analyzers, spectrum analyzers and accessories. As the leader in the field, Anritsu makes the largest variety of high quality base station analyzers and peripheral equipment designed for reliable operation that saves you time and money.

However, you don’t have to use our products to benefit from the materials on this site since many of the measurements are universal. So please bookmark this site and come back often whenever you need specs for test and analysis equipment for GSM, W-CDMA, HSDPA, CDMA, EV-DO, WiMAX and TD-SCDMA as well as such applications as line sweeping, DTF (Distance-To-Fault) measurements and vector signal analysis.

PSN50
50 MHz — 6 GHz

The High Accuracy Power Meter is designed to provide accurate power measurements from 50 MHz to 6 GHz for many products in the Anritsu catalog. The PSN50 is currently compatible with Site Master, Cell Master, Spectrum Master, BTS Master, VNA Master, and the MS271xB Economy Microwave Spectrum Analyzer instruments.

As an overview, the PSN50 sensor provides true RMS measurements from -30 dBm to +20 dBm enabling users to make highly accurate power measurements for both CW and digitally modulated signals such as GSM/EDGE, CDMA/EV-DO,WCDMA/HSDPA, WiMAX, and TD-SCDMA. Accurate power measurements in the field are important for verifying that transmitter outputs are operating at specified levels. For example, service technicians need to verify base station output power because lower output power can quickly translate into large coverage differences that can cause dropped calls.

For the products that support USB, the sensor easily connects to the instrument via a USB A/mini-B cable. These supported USB instruments include the BTS Master, Spectrum Master (MS272xB), VNA Master, and MS271xB Economy Microwave Spectrum Analyzer instruments. An additional benefit of using the USB connection is that a separate DC supply is not needed since the necessary power is supplied by the instrument.

In contrast, the instruments with an RS-232 serial interface require an external DC supply in addition to the RS-232 serial cable. These RS-232 instruments include the Site Master (S331D/S332D), Spectrum Master (MS2711D) and Cell Master (MT8212B) products.

The High Accuracy Power Meter (Option 19) is a software option that enables the desired instrument to interface with the power sensor.

Anritsu has worldwide calibration and service centers to ensure reduced downtime and local support. For customers who wish to self-calibrate and who have access to an appropriately equipped calibration laboratory, please see the PSN50 Technical Data Sheet for more information on our PSN50CalXpert software utility.

MT9090A
Network Master

Purpose-Built for Technicians
Until now, the right tool just didn't exist for technicians to quickly and cost-effectively isolate network problems. Traditional, dedicated testers did the job but lacked the ability to be upgraded when new technologies were deployed. Likewise, more flexible platforms were too large, too expensive and too complicated.

The new, palm-size MT9090A modular platform from Anritsu finally addresses all of these needs. Users can interchange different modules to configure the MT9090A as an optical fault locator, general purpose OTDR, CWDM optical channel analyzer or 10/100/1000MB Ethernet tester. Operation is quite similar between modules so the user is immediately familiar with operation.

Small but Capable
Despite its small size, the MT9090A does not compromise performance or features. With a high resolution indoor/outdoor display, excellent optical performance, innovative features and expandable modular design, the MT9090A Network Master is clearly in a different class than most other "handheld testers".

MA24106A
50 MHz to 6 GHz

The MA24106A power sensor is a USB power sensor that eliminates the need of a traditional power meter. It is a highly accurate, standalone instrument that communicates with a PC via USB. The power measurement capability of MA24106A is intended to mimic that of a traditional thermal (thermo-electric) power sensor with a wider dynamic range. Therefore, it is ideal for measuring average power of CW, modulated RF waveforms such as 3G, 4G, OFDM, and multi-tone signals. It measures true RMS power regardless of the type of the input signal. The presence of a micro-controller along with signal conditioning circuitry, ADC, and power supply in the sensor makes it a complete miniature power meter. The data display, acquisition occurs in the PC. The Anritsu Power Meter application for personal computers running Microsoft Windows™ can be used to control and operate the sensor. It is available standard with the product. The MA24106A is compatible with the MS272xB, MT8222A, MS202xA, MS203xA, and MS271xB instruments.

Presence of signal channel/analog signal acquisition HW and on-board (frequency as well as temperature) corrections eliminates the need for a reference calibration, simplifying the measurement process and reduction of test time in production.

For customers who wish to self-calibrate and who have access to an appropriately equipped calibration laboratory, please see the MA24106A Product Brochure/Technical Data Sheet for more information on our CalXpert™ software utility.

MU909011A
Optical Fault Locator Module

Purpose-Built for Short Fibre Testing

Until now, the right tool just didn't exist for cost effectively testing short fibres. Handheld OTDRs and Fault Locators lacked the resolution and specifications to find issues in such short spans while mini-OTDRs were too large, too expensive and too complicated.

The new MU909011A OTDR Module for the MT9090A from Anritsu finally addresses this need by providing all of the features and performance required for installation and maintenance of short fibres in a compact, modular test set. The MT9090A represents an unmatched level of value and ease of use, while not compromising performance. Data sampling of five centimeters and deadzones of less than one meter, ensure accurate and complete fibre evaluation while a simple testing sequence requires only one key press to initiate - allowing anyone to make error-free measurements.

The MT9090A represents a new era in drop cable and premise testing. Its ease of use, low price, high-resolution and size makes this the perfect product for "last mile" testing.

MS2830A

Wireless Technology Terms Glossary and Dictionary

The wireless industry is constantly evolving, and so are the words and terms we use to describe its technology. Whether you’re describing the difference between W-CDMA, CDMA and TD-SCDMA… explaining applications such as line sweeping, DTF measurements or vector signal analysis as they apply to GSM, HSPDA or WiMAX… or simply looking up a term that’s new to you… Anritsu's Wireless Base Station Glossary is the place to start.
